  • Patent number: 10116790
Abstract: According to embodiments of the present invention, a method for communicating data associated with a user of a voice device is disclosed. A server receives a first identifier associated with a first device, the first device comprising one of the voice device and the data device. The server determines a second identifier associated with a second device based on the first identifier, the second device comprising the other one of the voice device and the data device. The server then establishes a connection with the second device using the second identifier and communicates data associated with the user of the voice device between the server and the data device. The communicated data can represent a user identifier (such as a user identifier stored on a smart card, the user's iris scan, the user's fingerprint scan and the like).

  • Patent number: 8550516
Abstract: Disclosed is a shovel tool implement having an imbedded illumination means and a means for storing an auxiliary light source in its handle. The tool comprises an elongated shaft having a proximal handle end and distal working end, the distal end preferably connecting to a shovel implement, the proximal handle end preferably having a slot in which to store a removable flashlight. At a location along the shaft length is provided an outward projection for housing a light source, power supply and on/off switch. The projection extends outward from the shaft and directs light towards the shovel working end, while the backside of the projection includes a removable cover for replacement of batteries and light source elements. The projection is situated such that normal handling of the shovel is not impeded, while the directed light allows a user to visualize a given work area in a low light environment.

  • Patent number: 7965821
Abstract: According to an embodiment on the present invention, a method for controlling a voice recorder is disclosed. The voice recorder is for recording a voice session between an origination device and a destination device. The method can be conveniently executed at a computing apparatus coupled to the origination device and to the voice recorder. The method comprises receiving at least one of a user identifier associated with a user of the origination device and a destination identifier associated with the destination device. The method further comprises generating a voice recording trigger using at least one of data associated with the user identifier and data associated with the destination identifier. The voice recording trigger is then transmitted to the voice recorder to enable the voice recorder to control recording of the voice session between the origination device and the destination device.

  • Publication number: 20040181428
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting online consultations are disclosed. In order to submit an online consultation request, a user registers to receive online consultation services. During the preliminary registration process, an online messaging privileges request is transmitted to a healthcare provider requesting that online messaging privileges be granted to the user. During the registration process, the healthcare provider may choose to decline the online messaging privileges request (e.g., if the user is not a patient of the healthcare provider) or accept the online messaging privileges request, thereby enabling the user to send online messages to and receive online messages from the healthcare provider via the Internet. Upon successful completion of the registration process, the user submits an online consultation request message via the Internet indicating that medical information and/or medical advice are requested from a healthcare provider.
