  • Publication number: 20200111186
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a system configured to manage and track intellectual property (IP). Some embodiments of this system may include: an application programming interface (API) having access to a web-accessible IP database; an artificial intelligence (AI) or learning engine coupled to the API and operating the API to query the web-accessible IP database for orphaned IP assets that have become abandoned, expired, and/or public domain assets; and a user-collaboration platform. Some embodiments of this platform may: receive information from the API concerning the orphaned IP assets found by the API; store the information concerning each of the orphaned IP assets on a blockchain data structure; provide access to the orphaned IP assets stored on the blockchain data structure to users via a network; and record user activity concerning user access, development, sharing, and/or modification of the orphaned IP assets on the blockchain data structure.

  • Publication number: 20190080369
Abstract: Systems and methods of managing research agreements between members in an open-science community are disclosed. A method includes recording a proposal from a researcher in a decentralized ledger, storing funds from a funder in the decentralized ledger, generating a first notification in the decentralized ledger that distributes an indicator to the researcher and the funder that a first portion of the research is to commence, recording deliverables from the researcher to the decentralized ledger, recording votes that indicate whether the deliverables comply with rules established from the proposal in the decentralized ledger, and when a majority of the votes indicates that the deliverables complies with the rules, distributing a tranche of the funds to the researcher and recording the distribution in the decentralized ledger and generating a second notification that distributes an indicator to the researcher and the funder that a second portion of the research is to commence.

  • Publication number: 20140279234
Abstract: This disclosure is drawn to systems, devices, apparatus, methods and/or a structure of interoperating functions related to storing and accessing information among generations of users. Specifically, the disclosure relates to generating revenue from storing and accessing information among generations of users, including individuals, entities, and/or organizations. A generation-to-generation transaction model may incentivize the collection of content, genetics, knowledge, and insights, and the distribution of such collected information to future generations that would ordinarily be lost at death (of a human) or evolution (of an entity). This collection of information may be accessed and/or mined by third parties, which may present monetization opportunities that may compensate the information owner's and his related future generations. Monetization opportunities may be negotiated with the third parties by the generation-to-generation transaction system, which may act on behalf of the users.

  • Patent number: 8001123
Abstract: It is a first aspect of the present invention to provide a method of publishing content including the steps of: (a) providing a printed publication having printed content, a storage device storing a content database having digital content, an output device for outputting the digital content, and an interactive user device for generating one or more signals associated with retrieval of the digital content from the storage device; (b) accessing digital content; (c) associating the digital content with the printed content; (d) storing in a mapping database the association and a location of the digital content; (e) actuating the interactive user device to generate the one or more signals; (f) querying the mapping database to determine the association and the location of the digital content; (g) upon determining the location, retrieving the digital content; and (h) outputting the digital content to the output device.

  • Publication number: 20100279178
Abstract: Microbial fuel cells may include anode(s), cathode(s) and a biofilm attached to at least the anode. The biofilm may include bacterial cells adapted to facilitate transfer of a plurality of electrons to the anode from a feedstock. In an example embodiment, a microbial fuel surface may include a large surface area to volume ratio in order to increase power (electron) generation and/or transfer.
