  • Publication number: 20200232087
Abstract: Techniques for generating a multi-layered thin film coating for dental applications are disclosed. An example of a dental substrate with an aesthetic coating includes a barrier layer deposited on the dental substrate, a textured layer deposited over the barrier layer, the textured layer comprising a first material with features of a size sufficient to scatter light, and at least one protective layer deposited over the textured layer.

  • Patent number: 10675380
Abstract: Techniques and devices including a biocompatible antibacterial film are provided. An example method for depositing a biocompatible antibacterial film using physical vapor deposition (PVD) includes providing a substrate in a PVD processing chamber, forming a deposited film by co-depositing a first material and a second material onto the substrate from a vapor plume, wherein at least the first material is biocompatible and at least the second material is antibacterial, and nano-texturing the deposited film to produce nano-scale surface asperities that provide at least one of inhibition of bacterial growth, promotion of osseointegration, promotion of epithelial attachment, or promotion of endothelial attachment.

  • Publication number: 20190329471
Abstract: A die pin for forming a hollow plastic parison is provided, the die pin having a base member with a proximal mounting portion, a body portion, and a distal frustoconical portion, wherein the base member comprises a first material, and a tip member mounted on the distal frustoconical portion, wherein the tip member comprises a second material, the second material being different than the first material. An extrusion apparatus and method for forming a hollow plastic parison using the die pin are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110059149
Abstract: A method of coating a substrate including loading a calcium phosphate substance at a first crystallinity with a therapeutic agent; depositing the loaded calcium phosphate substance at the first crystallinity onto a least a portion of the substance; loading a calcium phosphate substance at a second, lower, crystallinity with a therapeutic agent; and depositing the loaded calcium phosphate substance at the second crystallinity onto the deposited loaded calcium phosphate substance at the first crystallinity to control and sustain a long-term osseointegration response and to control the release rate of the therapeutic substance from the calcium phosphate substance.
