Patent number: 11517977Abstract: An ultrasonic welding apparatus joins metal pieces, such as wires, which are placed in a weldment zone where the metal pieces are subjected to pressure through a compressive height anvil and an adjustable width anvil, and intimate contact is made with a sonotrode of an ultrasonic stack. A first electric motor actuates movement of the height anvil to develop a compressive force for ultrasonic welding of the metal pieces. A second electric motor can position the width anvil before and during welding. A sensor, such as a load cell, measures the compressive force developed. The sensor directly can measure the load on the height anvil independent of the ultrasonic stack. A software algorithm can compensate for deflection of the load cell sensor and lost motion in the first electric motor actuating movement.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2018Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Tech-Sonic, Inc.Inventors: Byoung Ou, David Lee Cyphert, Jason E. Publication number: 20040254424Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to provide a single endoscope that provides a field of view substantially greater than a hemisphere comprising a forward field of view and a panoramic field of view that are integrated on a single image plane. The invention is described with respect to a rigid endoscope, but the technology can be implemented on a flexible endoscope as well. The advantage of such an endoscope is that it would provide substantially more information to the physician than any single existing endoscope, and it can be used in place of multiple endoscopes with varying directions of view that are swapped throughout a procedure to provide different views. The invention can also be used in non-medical applications for inspection in closed or generally inaccessible spaces such as for example the interior of jet engines.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2004Publication date: December 16, 2004Applicant: InterScience, Inc.Inventors: Michelle D. Publication number: 20040222210Abstract: An improved heating system for heating a semiconductor wafer during fabrication in a corrosive manufacturing environment is disclosed. The system includes a novel ceramic heater made of a layered ceramic substrate that has a plurality of heating elements and temperature sensor arrangement completely and directly embedded within the ceramic substrate of the ceramic heater. The heating elements and the temperature sensor arrangement are constructed of a molybdenum and aluminum nitride composite that provides a low temperature coefficient of resistance which improves the operating efficiency of the ceramic heater. In operation, the temperature sensor arrangement transmits temperature readings to a microprocessor capable of controlling the heating elements in such a manner as to provide a constant and uniform temperature distribution along the entire surface of the semiconductor wafer.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2003Publication date: November 11, 2004Inventors: Hongy Lin, Thomas Laskowski, Jason E.
