  • Publication number: 20240385980
Abstract: A line-replaceable unit (LRU) for an aircraft includes an interface configured to couple to an aircraft data bus. The LRU further includes one or more processors coupled to the interface. The one or more processors are configured to monitor communications over the aircraft data bus between a pilot interface device and a second LRU. The LRU is distinct from the second LRU and is distinct from the pilot interface device. The one or more processors are further configured to, in response to detecting a particular page being transmitted over the aircraft data bus, extract target data associated with the particular page from the aircraft data bus. The one or more processors are further configured to store the target data at a memory associated with the one or more processors.

  • Publication number: 20060005147
Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying a map onboard an aircraft are disclosed. A method in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes displaying a map of an area at least proximate to an aircraft at an aircraft flight deck during flight, with the map presenting a feature having a first position relative to a boundary of the map. The method can further include displaying at least one operator-selectable input element at least proximate to the display of the map and accessible to an operator of the aircraft. The method can still further include receiving via the at least one input element an operator-based request to change a position of the feature on the map relative to the boundary, and, in response to the request, updating the display of the map by shifting all points of the map so that the feature has a second position relative to the boundary, with the second position being different than the first position.

  • Publication number: 20060004496
Abstract: A vertical situation display system for use in a vehicle such as, for example, an aircraft, is provided. A side view of an intended route of flight may be shown with altitude restrictions, airspace and instrument approach information, a projected flight path and range to airspeed symbol. The system may show terrain, weather, and traffic information along the intended route of flight. The system may be used in conjunction with a navigational display to enhance situational awareness. The system includes a computer, an electronic display device, an electronic entry device, a memory and a database. The database may contain terrain, airspace and flight planning data and may be updatable.

  • Publication number: 20060004498
Abstract: Methods and systems for displaying the source of aircraft control instructions are disclosed. A method in accordance with one embodiment to the invention includes receiving a first target to which an aircraft will be automatically directed upon authorization from an operator, and receiving a second target to which the aircraft will automatically be directed upon meeting a threshold condition. The method can further include displaying the first and second targets at least proximate to each other, with a target to which the aircraft is currently being controlled being displayed in a different manner than a target to which the aircraft is not currently being controlled.
