  • Patent number: 11754030
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for optimizing engine restarts. In one aspect, the system includes an engine, a brake pedal sensor, and a controller. The controller is configured to shut off the engine when a vehicle stops during an Idle Stop and Go (ISG) operation. The controller operates the engine to shut off during the ISG operation in response to detecting the vehicle being stopped. The controller detects a driving condition indicating that the engine is required to be on. The controller operates the engine to turn on based on the driving condition. The controller detects force satisfying a second threshold at the brake pedal based on the brake pedal sensor. The controller operates the engine to maintain an engine-off state in response to detecting force satisfying the second threshold at the brake pedal based on the brake pedal sensor.

  • Patent number: 11313302
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for engine idle speed optimization. A system may include determining whether a fuel intake rate indicative of an amount of fuel consumed by an idling engine over time satisfies a threshold in comparison to a reference fuel intake rate. The reference fuel intake rate may be indicative of a predetermined amount of fuel consumed by the idling engine over time. The system may adjust a predetermined minimum speed at which the engine idles in response to determining that the fuel intake rate satisfies the threshold.

  • Patent number: 10906547
Abstract: A method can include: detecting a distance between the host vehicle and a preceding vehicle and a current speed of the preceding vehicle; calculating a relative speed of the host vehicle with respect to the preceding vehicle based on a current speed of the host vehicle and the detected current speed of the preceding vehicle; determining whether to activate an engine idle sailing (EIS) function, in which a driving gear of the host vehicle shifts to neutral, based on the relative speed of the host vehicle with respect to the preceding vehicle and the detected distance between the host vehicle and the preceding vehicle; and in response to determining to activate the EIS function of the host vehicle, controlling operation of the host vehicle so as to activate the EIS function of the host vehicle, causing the driving gear of the host vehicle to shift to neutral.

  • Patent number: 10704520
Abstract: A method for controlling activation of an ISG system is provided. The method includes obtaining a current vehicle location and determining whether the current vehicle location is within an ISG inhibition area. When the current location of the vehicle is within the ISG inhibition area, an ISG mode is automatically inhibited to prevent the engine from being turned off.
