  • Patent number: 8505820
Abstract: A non-magnetic card reader, a magnetic card reader and a card transaction method are provided to selectively read a magnetic card and a non-magnetic card for identification of payment transaction at a transaction terminal. The non-magnetic card reader includes an integrator module electrically connecting to the magnetic card reader and the transaction terminal. Each of the non-magnetic card reader, the magnetic card reader and the transaction terminal has one or more physical connectors compatible with a magnetic-card communication protocol. A non-magnetic card signal incorporated with card data of the non-magnetic card is converted by the integrator module to match the magnetic-card communication protocol and is selectively transmitted to a main controller of the transaction terminal for identification. • Publication number: 20050166365
Abstract: A pivot joint includes a fixed member, a movable member, two friction pads respectively fastened to the fixed member and the movable member and each having at least one raised portion and one recessed portion formed at its one side, and a pivot shaft inserted through the fixed member, the movable member, and the two friction pads to tightly hold the same by its two ends. The two sides of said two friction pads having the raised and recessed portions are attached to each other. When the movable member is driven by a force to turn with respect to the fixed member for a predetermined angle, the friction pad fastened to the movable member is turned together with the movable member, such that friction resistance is increasingly generated between said raised portions of said friction pads.

  • Publication number: 20030021080
Abstract: The invention simplifies the wiring changes needed in a modular communications device as new modules are added to a system and it reduces the initial cost of the base unit. When a module, which contains an additional communications function is added to an existing system, it often becomes necessary to move a communications cable from the existing unit to the new module that has been added. This invention avoids the need of such a cable change, and reduces the costs of having connectors on the new module, and provides scaleable costs that are incurred only as modules are required.
