  • Publication number: 20220214944
Abstract: A storage network method begins by receiving a data retrieval request, wherein a data object is segmented into a plurality of data segments, determining a storage configuration associated with the data retrieval request based on an encoded data slice identifier included in the retrieval request and, based on the storage configuration, determining a plurality of storage resources associated with the encoded data slice identifier The mehod continues by determining an estimated performance level for each storage resource of a plurality of storage resources associated with the encoded data slice identifier, determining an expected retrieval performance for the retrieval request and selecting a storage resource of the plurality of storage resources based on the expected retrieval performance. The method then continues by transmitting a read request for one or more encoded data slices associated with the encoded data slice identifier to the storage resource.

  • Publication number: 20220214728
Abstract: Thermal control of a multi-chip module in an operating environment is facilitated by predetermining separate thermal control points for multiple chips of the multi-chip module, with a first chip and a second chip having different predetermined thermal control points, and saving the predetermined thermal control points for reference by a thermal control of the multi-chip module in an operating environment. The thermal control monitors an operating temperature of the first chip, and compares the operating temperature of the first chip to the predetermined thermal control point of that chip. The thermal control further initiates a control action to control temperature of the first chip based on comparing the operating temperature of the first chip to the predetermined thermal control point of the first chip.

  • Publication number: 20220212766
Abstract: An outboard motor support device includes a transom connection mechanism, a pivot joint, and a motor support. The transom connection mechanism engages directly with a transom bracket to maximize stability and is configured to provide a consistently correct angular orientation of the motor support relative to the motor during use. In particular, the pivot joint adjustably aligns to the motor is a desired orientation during assembly to ensure a firm and “nested” engagement with the lower unit of the motor in the motor support. The motor support can be designed to fit specific motors, allowing for maximum stability and maximum surface area contact when properly aligned and engaged with the motor. The present outboard motor support device is formed as a single unit that provides vertical support as well as horizontal stabilization to the motor during transit, thereby also preserving the transom brackets and tilt/trim mechanism of the motor.

  • Publication number: 20220214882
Abstract: A program is executed using a call stack and shadow stack. The call stack includes frames having respective return addresses. The frames may also store variables and/or parameters. The shadow stack stores duplicates of the return addresses in the call stack. The call stack and the shadow stack are maintained by, (i) each time a function is called, adding a corresponding stack frame to the call stack and adding a corresponding return address to the shadow stack, and (ii) each time a function is exited, removing a corresponding frame from the call stack and removing a corresponding return address from the shadow stack. A backtrace of the program's current call chain is generated by accessing the return addresses in the shadow stack. The outputted backtrace includes the return addresses from the shadow stack and/or information about the traced functions that is derived from the shadow stack's return addresses.

  • Patent number: 11380420
Abstract: A system is described for constructing a biological simulation using inputs from a knowledge base data structure and one or more templates. The knowledge base data structure comprises a set of entries representing distinct molecules and chemical reactions specific within the cell. Each template defines a sub-model program specification and a set of sub-model parameters to further characterize the sub-model specification. A graphical user interface is presented on a display for a user to view and select a templates and to assign information from the knowledge base to the selected template. From the graphical user interface, the user selects multiple templates to be included in the simulation and information from the knowledge base generally describing the cell. Based on the information selected from the graphical user interface, a compiler generates a simulation configuration data file comprising computer code capable of being executed by a simulation engine.

  • Patent number: 11379823
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for enabling gift card recipients to redeem gift card amounts using existing accounts such as a credit/debit card. A system practicing the method sends to a set of givers a set of respective invitations to contribute to a group gift, wherein the group gift is associated with a policy, a person, and a payment account associated with the person that existed prior to sending the set of respective invitations. The system identifies a contribution to the group gift from one of the set of givers, wherein when the person makes a qualifying transaction using the payment account according to the policy, a gift amount associated with the group gift is applied from various giver accounts. Then the system updates at least one of the set of respective invitations sent to the set of givers based on the contribution.
