  • Patent number: 11762274
Abstract: A projection screen including a capacitive touch panel, such as a projected capacitive touch panel. The touch panel includes first and second glass substrates, one of which is patterned (e.g., etched with acid or the like) to form a diffuser. A conductive coating is formed on the patterned surface of the diffuser glass substrate, and is patterned into a plurality of electrodes for the touch panel. The system, including an optional projector, may be used as an interactive transparent display for augmented reality applications such as storefronts. The touch panel may also be used in applications such as capacitive touch panels for controlling showers, appliances, vending machines, electronics, electronic devices, and/or the like.

  • Patent number: 8215130
Abstract: A spinner for fiberizing glass has fiberizing holes formed in the spinner sidewall by a process utilizing an electron beam perforating process. A backing material used in the process is deposited on the walls of the fiberizing holes for increasing the corrosion resistance of the fiberizing holes. With regard to the formation of each fiberizing hole, an interaction of the backing material with an electron beam during the electron beam perforating process creates a gaseous backing material that expands through a hole created by the electron beam in the spinner sidewall to eject molten alloy material of the spinner sidewall made molten by the electron beam from the hole and deposit a thin substantially uniform coating layer of the backing material on the wall of the hole to increase the corrosion resistance of the fiberizing hole thus formed.

  • Publication number: 20080210066
Abstract: A method for separating long, unwound items like fiber, fiber strands, yarn, etc. having a liquid chemical sizing on the surfaces into short lengths by chopping is disclosed. Improved chopping life is achieved by using blades, or at least blade edges of cemented tungsten carbide, and selecting the liquid chemical sizings having a pH of about 7 or greater to apply to the surfaces of the items being chopped. Also disclosed are blades having at least the sharp edges of the chopping blades coated with various materials including a material selected from a group consisting of tungsten carbide, titanium nitride, diamond like carbon, polycrystalline diamond, polycrystalline cubic boron nitride, cemented tungsten carbide, or mixture of two or more of these materials.
