  • Publication number: 20030057677
Abstract: The present invention relates to a motor vehicle (50) having a moulded bumper (24) behind which is a towing eye bracket (1). The moulded bumper (24) which has an aperture (28) therethrough, a bumper beam (10) within the vehicle (50) and to which the bumper (24) is secured, a towing eye bracket (1) also secured to the bumper beam, at least one grille (32) and means by which the grille (32) may be removably fitted within the bumper aperture (28), wherein the aperture (28) is disposed so that when the grille (32) is removed from the aperture (28), access may be had to the towing eye bracket (1) so that the vehicle (50) may tow/be towed.

  • Patent number: 6431643
Abstract: A motor vehicle (1) with a grab handle (6), for a passenger compartment (12). The grab handle (6) is secured to a support, such as a roof panel (14), via a pair of pivot points (16) so that the grab handle (6) may be rotated (3) to extend away from the surrounding surface (10) to an extended position (31) or retracted toward the surrounding surface (10) to a retracted position (11). A proximity sensor (24) senses the presence of a hand when sufficiently near the grab handle (6), and an actuator, responsive to the proximity sensor, is arranged to extend (3) automatically the grab handle (6) when the proximity sensor (24) senses the presence of a hand near the grab handle (6). The actuator may also automatically retract the grab handle (6) when the proximity sensor (24) does not sense the presence of a hand near the grab handle (6) for a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6241278
Abstract: A vehicle passenger safety restraint arrangement where an inflatable cushion mounted in a vehicle roof is operatively connected to an inflator which inflates the inflatable cushion in the event of an accident. The inflator is conveniently positioned in the roof space adjacent to the front reinforcement rail and can be attached to the rail by a deformable bracket so that the inflator may move relative to the bracket to soften the impact if a passenger collides with the inflator during an accident.
