Abstract: A method is provided for blending device-based recommendations. A request is received from a device to recommend a group activity for a plurality of individuals. A plurality of device user profiles is accessed, each device user profile associated with one of the individuals. At least one group activity is recommended based on applying a plurality of rules to the device user profiles. The at least one recommended group activity is output to the device.

Abstract: A communications device dynamic interface system is provided. The system comprises an at least one communications device and a dynamic interface application, that when executed on the at least one communications device, arranges a plurality of selectable, viewable panes in a virtual carousel format. The system also displays at least one of data and interactive content within the panes, the data and interactive content received from external sources. The system also changes the viewing sequence of the panes on demand and places less frequently viewed panes in a background area of the interface. The system also archives panes not viewed for a predetermined period of time and deletes panes not viewed for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for user interface navigation engine is provided. A number of items to display is determined based on an interface screen parameter. The number of items is displayed based on the numerical position on a list selected for display. A displayed item is highlighted, wherein a position of the highlighted displayed item on a screen indicates a position relation of the displayed number of items to the count of items in the list.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for allowing a user to scroll through a list of items on a display, such as contacts, pictures, or other files, at variable speeds, which provides for fast, yet accurate scrolling. The user provides an indication to scroll through the list of items, such as pressing and dragging or flicking through the list. This indication may include a starting point and ending point at a certain location on the display. Depending on where the user provides this indication on the display, a scroll speed is determined at which to scroll through the list of items. As the indication of a scroll action progresses from one side of a display to the other, the scrolling speed increases such that the exact same scroll action corresponds to differing scrolling speeds, depending on the position of the user's indication of a scroll action on the display.

Abstract: One or more media is provided for performing a method of operating an electronic locking mechanism. Initially, a request from a requesting mobile device is received at a computing device via a sensing device. The request includes an identifier utilized in an initial validation sequence having the following steps: identifying a device identity according to the identifier, transmitting the device identity with a request that a message be communicated to a target mobile device, and determining validation data. Upon receiving the request, a communications network identifies the target mobile device, based on the device identity, and communicates a message with validation data therein. The mobile device conveys authentication information to the computing device, where the authentication information is based on the validation data.

Abstract: A device with a touch screen offset pointer is provided. The device includes a processor; a touch screen, and a navigator engine. When executed by the processor, the navigator engine detects a first touch input at a first location on the touch screen, determines a first offset for a pointer to overlay on content displayed by the touch screen, and displays the pointer on the touch screen at the first offset from the first location. The navigator engine also detects a second touch input at a second location on the touch screen, determines a second offset for the pointer, and displays the pointer on the touch screen at the second offset from the second location.

Abstract: A system is provided comprising a computer system and a dynamic network interfaces application that executes on the computer system. The dynamic network interfaces application activates a virtual local area network (VLAN) by associating subnet interface information and a virtual local area network tag, wherein the virtual local area network tag is unrelated to and randomly combined with the subnet interface information, and by transmitting the association of the subnet interface information and the virtual local area network tag to a firewall component and to a network access component.

Abstract: A mobile electronic device is provided. The mobile electronic device comprises a radio receiver, an application that selects a message, and an output device to present the message. The radio receiver receives the message broadcast in a television spectrum band. The application, when executed on the mobile electronic device, selects the message for presentation on the mobile electronic device based on at least one of a location of the mobile electronic, a history based user profile associated with the mobile electronic device, and a selection criteria input into the mobile electronic device. The output device then presents the message.

Abstract: A processor-implemented method for providing application single sign on leveraging a virtual local area network identifier is provided. The method comprises an authentication server providing a client device access to a network via association with a virtual local area network and a credential. The method also comprises the device invoking an application hosted on an application server and the application server identifying a virtual local area network tag associated with the device. The method also comprises the application server sending a message to the authentication server requesting linkage of the tag with a user identification associated with the device. The method also comprises the authentication server linking the tag with the user identification associated with the device and sending a message to the application server containing the identification.

Abstract: System and methods are provided for handset diagnostics. A dialer component intercepts a connection request associated with an entered number, and determines whether the entered number is associated with a specified service. If the entered number is associated with the specified service, a service component presents service options on a user interface of the handset, receives a selection of at least one of the service options, determines handset data based on the selection, and wirelessly communicates the handset data to a server associated with the entered number. The service component may connect the handset to the entered number, wherein the server may promote providing the specified service based on the communicated handset data. Alternatively, the service component may send a message to the user interface to indicate that the server provides the specified service based on the communicated handset data.

Abstract: A system is provided for user interface update signaling. The system includes a user interface that executes on a mobile device, a signaling server, and a background application. The signaling server receives an update from a third party application and sends at least some of the update to the mobile device. The background application executes on the mobile device, receives the at least some of the update, and stores the at least some of the update in a file in the mobile device. The background application also provides a uniform resource locator that specifies where the file is located to the user interface to enable the user interface to display the at least some of the update.

Abstract: A system is provided that comprises a computer system, a database, and an application that, when executed on the computer system, receives a message containing notification that an unauthorized communication from a client device has been attempted, searches the database for policies associated with a network resource invoked by the unauthorized communication, and determines authorization for association with policies permitting the client device access to the network resource. The system terminates the client device association with a first virtual local area network and sends a reply to a virtual local area network access device and a gateway device containing information to one of modify and replace a virtual local area network interface associated with the first virtual local area network on each component to provision a second virtual local area network. The system also activates association with the second virtual local area network providing access to the network resource.

Abstract: A system is provided for contact information rights management. The system includes a processor, a memory, and a management component stored in the memory. When executed by the processor, the management component provides contact information associated with a first communication device to a second communication device in response to a first input provided by one of an interface of the first communication device and an interface of a third communication device. The management component also deletes the contact information from the second communication device in response to a second input provided by one of the interface of the first communication device and the interface of the third communication device.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for determining the location of a mobile station based on the locations of a group of nearby mobile stations. A mobile station implementing the method will engage in short-range wireless communication with nearby mobile stations to determine the location of the nearby mobile stations and the distances between it and each nearby mobile station. The mobile station will then apply triangulation or another algorithm to compute its own location based on the determined locations and distances of the nearby mobile stations. Further, a serving radio access network can assist by providing a trust-signal to the nearby mobile stations, with the nearby mobile stations then reporting their locations conditional upon their receipt of both the location query and the trust-signal.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media, for applying a navigational mode to a device based on one or more state indicators is provided. One or more state indicators are obtained. The state indicators indicate the state of a navigational mode selector. Such a navigational mode selector may be utilized to alter the navigational mode applied to a device. Thereafter, the state indicators are associated with a navigational mode. Upon associating the state indicators with a navigational mode, the navigational mode is applied to a device so that a display screen feature may be effectively manipulated.

Abstract: A system is provided comprising a computer system, a configuration database, and a dynamic network interfaces application that receives a message from a network access component containing a request to authenticate a client device accessing a network service, determines that a policy requires the client device to be associated with a virtual local area network to access the network service, and authenticates the client device for association with the virtual local area network. The dynamic network interfaces application also searches the configuration database for configuration information to provision the virtual local area network, assigns the configuration information to the client device, the network access component, and a firewall component, and sends a reply containing the configuration information to the network access component and the firewall component in response to the request, wherein the configuration information comprises settings to provision the virtual local area network.

Abstract: A dynamic network policies system based on device classification is provided. The system comprises a computer system, a configuration database, and a dynamic network policies application based on device classification that receives a message from a virtual local area network access component containing a device identity certificate. The application parses the device identity certificate to discover a device classification, references the configuration database to determine a network policy associated with the device classification, and associates the network policy with a virtual local area network definition. The application also sends a reply containing the virtual local area network definition to the virtual local area network access component in response to the request, wherein access to network services is made available by association with a virtual local area network, and wherein association with a virtual local network is specific to the device classification and the network policy.
