Patent number: 8341143Abstract: Methods and apparatus for rendering search results are described. In one aspect of the invention, a search request is received from a computerized client. A search is performed based on the search request in at least two different categories of information to obtain search results in the searched categories. Selected search results are returned to the client to facilitate rendering the search results at the client. Search results from different search categories are returned in a manner configured to be presented in different panes of a graphical user interface rendered on the client. In another aspect, what searches to perform can be determined based at least in part upon search results display settings associated with the client, such that searches are performed only in categories of information that are associated with a pane that is in an open state on the client.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2004Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: A9.com, Inc.Inventors: Jason Karls, Ruben E. Publication number: 20110120750Abstract: Composite structural components are disclosed that include electrically conducting fibres providing multiple signal or paths to electrical components disposed on or adjacent the material. The signal paths may therefore be embedded in the structural component as an intrinsic reinforcing element. Also disclosed are materials for making up the structure and fabrics and methods for the production thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2009Publication date: May 26, 2011Inventors: Martyn John Hucker, Sajad Haq, Michael Dunleavy, David William Gouch, Jason Karl Rew, Philip Lawrence Webberley

Publication number: 20110107843Abstract: A structural health monitoring arrangement includes a component formed of fibre reinforced composite material with a plurality of electrical conducting fibres intrinsic to the composite defining electrical paths that run through the composite. The paths act as sensing paths running through the material and a detector watches for changes in electrical property indicative of a structural event. The paths may be configured as an open or a closed node grid whose electrical continuity is monitored directly or indirectly. Alternatively they may be fibres having a piezoresistive property and the changes in resistance may be monitored.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2009Publication date: May 12, 2011Applicant: BAE SYSTEMS plcInventors: Martyn John Hucker, Sajad Haq, Michael Dunleavy, David William Gough, Jason Karl Rew, Philip Lawrence Webberley

Patent number: 7873622Abstract: Graphical user interfaces that are well suited for displaying search results from multiple search categories are described. In one aspect of the invention, a graphical user interface is provided that includes a window having at least two panes that are arranged to display search results from searches in different search categories. Each pane can be presented in an open state suitable for displaying information and a closed state. A user may adjust the relative sizes of the panes and the user may switch the panes between the open and closed states.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2004Date of Patent: January 18, 2011Assignee: A9.com, Inc.Inventors: Jason Karls, Ruben E. Patent number: 7756630Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for generating an online listing, such as a yellow pages listing, that includes information about an object, such as a business, and also includes at least one image of the structure containing the object. For example, the image may be a digital image of the store front of a business taken at a street view. Additionally, a user may select an image from a plurality of images that the user perceives as being an appropriate representative image for the business. Based on votes received a default representative image may be identified that is provided in response to a request for information about the business.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2008Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: A9.COM, IncInventors: Barnaby M. Dorfman, Udi Manber, Jonathan A. Gold, Huy T. Ha, Timothy Caro-Bruce, Jason Karls

Publication number: 20100094429Abstract: A prosthetic device for a knee joint includes a body portion and a first keel. The body portion attaches to a bone of a knee joint. The body portion can have a bearing surface configured to replace at least a portion of the bone and an implantation surface configured to face the bone upon implantation. The first keel can be configured to be inserted into a corresponding first keel void formed in the bone. The first feel can be configured to project outwardly from the implantation surface by an amount sufficient to inhibit movement of the body portion relative to the bone in both medial and lateral directions upon insertion into the first keel void. The first keel can extend along a longitudinal direction of the body portion and is offset from a longitudinal centerline of the body portion. Methods of implanting and removing the prosthetic device are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2009Publication date: April 15, 2010Inventor: Jason Karl OTTO
