Publication number: 20170036497Abstract: A pneumatic tire assembly includes a tire having a pneumatic cavity and a filter disposed between the pneumatic cavity and atmosphere. The filter is constructed of a hydrophobic material for avoiding all liquid adhesion. First and second sidewalls extend respectively from first and second tire bead regions to a tire tread region. The first sidewall has at least one bending region operatively bending when radially within a rolling tire footprint. A sidewall groove is defined by groove walls positioned within the bending region of the first tire sidewall. The sidewall groove deforms segment by segment between a non-deformed state and a deformed, constricted state in response to bending of the bending region of the first sidewall while radially within the rolling tire footprint.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2016Publication date: February 9, 2017Inventors: William Alain Talbot, Jason Mark Middelberg, Paul Welbes, Annette Lechtenboehmer

Publication number: 20170036501Abstract: An air maintenance tire assembly having an elongate air pumping sidewall air passageway includes an inlet air passage screw assembly inserted through a tire sidewall profiled bore to conduct air from outside the tire into a regulator positioned within a tire cavity. The screw assembly includes a screw body having at an outer end a large-diameter filter housing, a smaller-diameter midsection shank portion, and an inner large-diameter valve housing connecting to the regulator within the tire cavity. A valve mechanism seats within the valve housing and moves between an open position conducting air from the screw body into the regulator assembly and a closed position preventing a backflow of air from the regulator assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2015Publication date: February 9, 2017Inventors: Ralf Reinardt, Jean-Claude Patrice Philippe Griffoin, Jason Mark Middelberg, Frank Pierre Severens, Yannick Raymond Georges Haegel

Patent number: 9409454Abstract: A self-inflating tire assembly includes a first and second air tube mounted within a tire wherein each air tube defines an air passageway. Each air tube is composed of a flexible material operative to allow an air tube segment opposite a tire footprint to flatten, closing the passageway, and resiliently unflatten into an original configuration. Each air tube is sequentially flattened by the tire footprint in a direction opposite to a tire direction of rotation to pump air along the passageway to an outlet device for direction into the tire cavity. Each air tube has an inlet end that are joined together by an inlet device. Each air tube has an outlet end that are joined together by an outlet device The inlet device is preferably positioned 180 degrees opposite the outlet device. Publication number: 20150176933Abstract: An adjustable volume gas piston system for a pneumatic reloading firearm includes a gas block having an anchoring portion for anchoring along the barrel. The gas block also includes a chamber portion in pneumatic connection with the barrel. The chamber portion has one end pointing toward the muzzle and another end pointing away from the muzzle. A plug having a bore is affixed to the chamber portion at the forward end. The second end has an opening to allow travel of a gas pin but retains a gas pin head in the chamber portion, biasing it toward the first end. Upon firing the firearm, the volume of the bore causes a pressure delay on the gas pin head, thereby delaying the timing of pneumatic reloading.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2014Publication date: June 25, 2015Inventors: Jason Mark Adams, Carmelo Russo

Patent number: 8813632Abstract: An adjustable firearm gas block has a gas channel intersected by a threaded bore. A set screw with longitudinal slots is driven through the bore until it enters and constricts the gas channel. A second bore, parallel to the first bore, is connected to the first bore by a passage. A spring and a detent plunger having a slanted notch are inserted in the second bore with a bearing located in the slanted notch and passage. When the detent plunger is in a resting position, it presses the bearing into a longitudinal slot, preventing the set screw from turning. When the detent plunger is urged away from the resting position, the bearing disengages the longitudinal slot, traveling into the slanted notch and allowing the set screw to rotate, thereby adjusting the gas pressure emitted by the gas block.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2012Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Inventor: Jason Mark Adams

Publication number: 20140150880Abstract: Flushing circuits for closed loop hydrostatic circuits enable overriding of the normal function of the flushing circuit during certain machine operational events where flushing can cause undesirable performance issues. The disclosed flushing circuits may prevent flow from leaving the flush valve, may prevent flow from leaving the flushing circuit, may prevent flow from entering the flushing circuit, may prevent the flush valve from shifting from a normally closed position to an open position or may replace the hydro-mechanical control of the flush valve with an electronic control. Cancellation of the flushing function may be commanded by a controller based on fluid temperatures, pressures, turning commands, engine speed, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2012Publication date: June 5, 2014Applicant: CATERPILLAR INC.Inventors: Paul Alan Rousseau, Christopher Mark Elliott, Richard Ryan Evenson, Jason Mark Buckmier

Patent number: 8700271Abstract: A track type tractor incorporates control over lift, tilt, angle and pitch into an implement control joystick. The pitch cylinder and the tilt cylinder share segments of the hydraulic circuit, and a diverter valve prioritizes pitch control over tilt control in the rare occurrence when the operator is requesting both tilt and pitch changes to the dozer blade. Angle control and pitch control may be accomplished by finger controllers incorporated into the implement control joystick. Thus, the operator can control the dozer blade in four degrees of freedom without losing contact with the implement control joystick.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2012Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Richard Ryan Evenson, Gregory A. Epplin, Jason Mark Buckmier
