  • Publication number: 20210249822
Abstract: A connector system includes a receptacle configured for mounting on a structure having a curved sidewall with an opening formed therein, such as an aerial vehicle having a curved skin with an access opening. The receptacle is configured so that the contacts of the receptacle are accessible from the exterior of the structure, through the opening; and the receptacle does not protrude above the outer surface of the sidewall. The connector system can further include a plug configured to mate with the receptacle to form an electrical connection. The plug can include a retractable shroud that protects the contacts of the plug when the plug is not mated with the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 10916901
Abstract: Receptacles are provided for mating with plugs to establish electrical connections. The receptacles include a shell having a body, and a flange attached to the body. The flange has a projection extending therefrom. The receptacle also has an electrically-insulating insert positioned at least in part within the body; and one or more electrical contacts positioned at least in part within the insert. The receptacle is configured for mounting on a panel. The projection contacts a mounting surface of the panel, to establish a localized contact area that provides bonding between the receptacle and panel.

  • Patent number: 8545257
Abstract: Integrated electrical connectors (14) and electrical cable assemblies (10) constructed therewith are provided. Connectors (14) permit termination of braided electrical cables (12) without the use of backshell adapters and without requiring undue stretching of the braided sheath (84) over a relatively large cable sheath termination nipple (46) which could lead to undesirable EMI. Connectors (14) comprise a plurality of hinged petals (40) that are shiftable between an open position, which permits access to the connector insert (18) carried by the connector (14) and a closed position in which the petals (40) cooperate to define an appropriately-sized cable sheath termination nipple (46).

  • Patent number: 8425251
Abstract: An assembly for relieving cable bundle connection strain, the cable bundle being electrically connected to and extending from a multi-terminal modular plug, the assembly including a receptacle receiving the multi-terminal modular plug, the receptacle having a cable receiving nipple; clamping set screws connected operatively to the receptacle's lateral and oppositely lateral walls for securing the multi-terminal modular plug within the receptacle; a cable extension port opening the receptacle, the cable extension port receiving the cable bundle's extension; a cable sheath, the cable bundle's extension being further received by the cable sheath; and a constant force spring annularly clamping the sheath about the receptacle's nipple.
