    Abstract: A power plant system is disclosed. The power plant system includes a combustor configured, a turbine configured to generate electricity, a heat exchanger and a steam turbine, a carbon capture system configured to remove at least a portion of carbon-based gasses from the flue gas downstream from the heat recovery steam generator, and a thermal storage system including a hot storage unit configured to store thermal energy at a hot temperature, the hot temperature greater than ambient temperature. The power plant is configured to operate in at least a first mode for storing thermal energy in the thermal storage system and a second mode for releasing the stored thermal energy from the thermal storage system and during the second mode, heat stored in the hot storage unit is transferred to the carbon capture system.

    Abstract: Provided are rechargeable batteries, positive electrodes, and methods for manufacturing rechargeable batteries and positive electrodes. A rechargeable battery as disclosed includes a zinc metal negative electrode, an electrolyte having a pH between ˜4 and ˜6, and a positive electrode. The positive electrode includes a current collector and a primer coating layer applied to the current collector to form a primer-coated current collector for protecting the current collector from the electrolyte. The primer coating layer includes a binder and a conductive filler. The positive electrode further includes a positive electrode composite layer applied to the primer coating layer. The positive electrode composite layer includes a hydrophilic binder, a conductive additive, and a material that undergoes reversible faradaic reactions with zinc ions.

    Abstract: A sliding gate valve of a metallurgic vessel comprises a carriage. The carriage comprises a plate frame for supporting a first refractory plate and the plate frame is slideably mounted on a carriage support structure for sliding along a first axis. The carriage comprises a selecting device for selecting between a first stroke ?X1 and a second stroke ?X2 by moving a blocking member between a blocking and a non-blocking position. When the blocking member is located in the blocking position a first bumper portion of the plate frame is bumping into the blocking member if the plate frame is to slide beyond a nominal end-position. When the blocking member is located in the non-blocking position the first bumper portion is not bumping into the blocking member if the plate frame is to slide beyond a nominal end-position, thereby allowing the plate frame to slide beyond the nominal end-position to a service end-position.

Embodiments provide the particles are useful or removing water under ambient conditions and in removing water from air or material and in an embodiment removing water from plant material, such as harvested crop material, or where the dried air is contacted with plant material. Microwave radiation may be used to efficiently and in a cost effective manner dehydrate the rehydrated particles.

    Abstract: Multiple instances of a single object are aggregated and submitted collectively to a graphics API for rendering. Vertices of the object are replicated into a large buffer and are modified so as to be bound to different transformation matrices in a matrix palette. An index buffer of the object is similarly replicated. Each replicated index buffer is modified to refer to vertices of a different, respective set of replicated vertices. Thus, the large vertex and index buffers are initialized to contain multiple, distinct, and independent copies of the object. Instancing logic aggregates matrix palettes of individual instances of the same object into an aggregated matrix palette and sends the aggregated vertex and index buffers of the object along with the accumulated aggregated matrix palette to the graphics API for rendering.
