Abstract: Polyamide compositions useful for personal care are disclosed, including film-forming concentrates and emulsions. Ethanol-based concentrates comprise a hydrophobic polyamide, which comprises a reaction product of either (a) a dimerized fatty acid, at least one C2-C4 carboxylic acid, and a polyamine component comprising ethylenediamine and 1 to 30 eq. % of one or more di- or triamines; or (b) a dimerized fatty acid, at least 50 wt. % of a C16-C22 unsaturated carboxylic acid, and at least one C2-C6 diamine. Personal care applications for the concentrates, including continuous sunscreens, fragrant body sprays or splashes, anti-acne medications, are included. Water-in-oil emulsions comprising the hydrophobic polyamides are storage-stable and provide water-resistant SPF for products such as sunscreens and body lotions.

Abstract: A gel system comprising a fractal network of nanoparticles and macroscopic particles is disclosed. The gel system is capable of forming an “optical gel” effective to blurrfine lines and wrinkles as a consequence of the size domain differences between the fractal particles and the macroscopic particles. Cosmetic compositions comprising such gels and methods for their use are also disclosed.

The two-part cosmetic product has an anhydrous liquid or semi-solid first part composition with a water absorbent polymer, and a water-based second part composition with a water soluble or water dispersible film former. Optionally, the anhydrous first part composition has an oil absorbent polymer. Preferably, the product is wax-free, and is incorporated into a lip line filler, a volumizing mascara, and/or an anti-wrinkle skin care composition.

Abstract: There are provided colored, cosmetic emulsion compositions and methods of making them. The compositions have a hydrophilic colorant in the aqueous phase of the emulsion and a pearlescent colorant preferably in the oil phase of the emulsion. Upon application to mammalian skin or lips, the compositions of the invention display two or more different colors, have a multi-layered appearance, and display a different color than the color of the composition in its product form.
