  • Patent number: 8984224
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and software for managing the host-to-volume mappings of a SAN storage system. The host-to-volume mappings of the SAN storage system are represented in mapping configuration components. The active mapping configuration component represents the current host-to-volume mapping for the SAN storage system. Only one mapping configuration component is active at a time. The host-to-volume mappings of the SAN storage system are changed by deactivating the active mapping configuration component and activating an inactive mapping configuration component that represents a different mapping configuration, effecting a repartition, repurpose, disaster recovery, or other business activity. This can be a scheduled task or performed in an on-demand manner. The mapping configuration components are managed and controlled through the management component of the SAN storage system.

  • Patent number: 8747482
Abstract: An orthopaedic prosthesis includes a curved outer surface configured to abut a patient's bone when the orthopaedic prosthesis is implanted therein. The outer surface may or may not be electrically conductive. A channel is defined in the outer surface in which one or more electrical conductors are positioned. A switch is positioned at a first location on the outer surface and is configured to establish an electrical connection between the electrical conductor and the outer surface (e.g., an electrical trace) and/or another electrical conductor when the first location of the outer surface is pressed against the patient's bone. The switch may be embodied as an end of the electrical conductor or a more complex switch such as a push-button type switch.

  • Publication number: 20070270660
Abstract: A system and method for determining a location of an orthopaedic medical device includes a controller and an array of antennas. The array of antennas includes a number of coplanar antennas and one or more additional antennas positioned non-coplanar relative to the coplanar antennas. The coplanar and non-coplanar antennas may be directional antennas. The orthopaedic medical device includes a wireless transmitter circuit configured to transmit a wireless signal and may be coupled to a bone of the patient, an orthopaedic implant, or an orthopaedic surgical tool. The controller is electrically coupled to the array of antennas and configured to determine a location of the orthopaedic medical device based on output signals received from the antennas in response to the wireless signal.

  • Publication number: 20070239282
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting implant data includes an orthopaedic implant, a wireless receiver, and a processing circuit electrically coupled to the wireless receiver. The orthopaedic implant is configured to transmit implant identification data and implant sensor data to the wireless receiver in response to a power signal. The orthopedic implant may transfer the data over, for example, a wireless network. The processing circuit receives the implant identification data and the implant sensor data from the wireless receiver and is configured to retrieve patient-related data from a database based on the implant identification data. The processing circuit may also be configured to update a patient queue, assign a patient room to a patient, and/or transmit the patient-related data and the implant sensor data to a client machine located in the patient room.

  • Publication number: 20070167741
Abstract: An apparatus and method for registering a bone of a patient with a computer assisted surgery system includes a support frame and a number of magnetic sensor arrays movably coupled to the support frame. Each of the magnetic sensor arrays may be pivoted and translated with respect to the frame. In addition, each of the magnetic sensor arrays may include a circuit for sensing a magnetic field generated by a magnetic source coupled to the bone of the patient. Each circuit may include one or more magnetic sensors, a processing circuit, an angle sensor, a distance sensor, and a transmitter. The magnetic sensors and processing circuit cooperate to determine a position of the magnetic source. The angle sensor, distance sensor, and processing circuit cooperate to determine a displacement of the magnetic sensor array from a reference point. The processing circuit controls the transmitter to transmit data indicative of the position of the magnetic source.
