  • Patent number: 10392500
Abstract: Compositions include an aqueous solution of an organic dye of molecular weight in the range of about 300 to about 1,000 and a density-enhancing material. An amount of the density-enhancing material in the aqueous solution is sufficient to achieve a density of about 1.0 to about 1.3 g/mL. The composition has a viscosity of about 3.5 to about 5.0 centipoise. The compositions are useful in assessing the adequacy of a liquid handling mixing device to mix a reaction mixture.

  • Patent number: 9667012
Abstract: A bonding device electrically bonds metallic surfaces through serrated metal teeth which embed into each metal surface as a fastener is tightened. A sealing material circumferentially outward and inward from the teeth create an air-tight and water-tight seal around the teeth, protecting the bonding location. The device can have an extended central collar extending axially from the through-hole in the center of the device, which will allow it to be installed in holes, or on a stud without the use of adhesives or other retaining methods.

  • Publication number: 20150267900
Abstract: A solar powered lamp is provided with flat ends and a translucent flexible housing, such that the housing can be inflated to form a free standing cylinder. A solar panel faces outward on one of the flat ends for recharging a low-profile rechargeable battery which, under the control of a printed circuit panel, powers an array of LEDs, which point into the lamp housing. Reflective surfaces, facing each other on opposite inside end walls of the lamp, maximize the diffusion of light from the LEDs. The lamp is a durable, portable, long light lighting solution for those who live off the electric power grid, victims of disaster, and the like.

  • Patent number: 8777538
Abstract: A bonding fastener having two components which electrically bonds metallic surfaces through serrated metal teeth on the underside of the head of the first component and on the inside surface of the second component which embed into each metal surface as a fastener is tightened. In one embodiment, the fastener is a nut and bolt combination, and in another embodiment the fastener is a two-part rivet. A sealing material circumferentially outward from the teeth on both the first component and second component creates an air-tight and water-tight seal around the teeth, protecting the bonding location from air and water infiltration from the outside. The second component also has an internal seal, sealing around the shank of the first component to prevent axial infiltration of air or water along the shank and protecting the bonding locations from corrosion from contaminants entering along that route.

  • Publication number: 20130124323
Abstract: A system for associating a promotion with strings with the string being based upon a plurality of places and a relationship between two or more of those places. The strings represent an authentic user experience of a quality, character, and/or feel intended by the string author. The user experience can be further enhanced or guided through a narrative accompanying the string or places, written by the string author, that describes or invokes the quality, character or feel of the experience intended by the author. The promotions system promotes and suggests places, relationships, or strings that a user may want to experience based upon selections made by the user.

  • Publication number: 20130122937
Abstract: A string based travel generating system (TGS) of the present invention generates or suggests a string based upon one or more travel properties, such as, but not limited to, a current location, a direction of travel, a travel route, a travel plan, and/or a velocity of travel of a user. Each string includes at least two places and a relationship, with TGS using the travel properties to identify one or more places for the creation of a new string or a place that may be linked to an existing string. The relationship between the places of the string can include the type of travel underway and the anticipated destination. The travel and places may be physical or virtual, with an inference or extrapolation being developed that allows the travel generating system to determine suitable strings to suggest to a user or to allow for the generation of new strings.

  • Publication number: 20120282950
Abstract: A system for generating a string based upon a plurality of places and a relationship between two or more of those places. Of the plurality of places used in any given string, at least one of the places does not have associated taxonomy or other place related or entity related information (e.g., business hours, description of services, etc.). The strings represent an authentic user experience of a quality, character, and/or feel intended by the string author. The user experience can be further enhanced or guided through a narrative accompanying the string or places, written by the string author, that describes or invokes the quality, character or feel of the experience intended by the author.

  • Publication number: 20120284307
Abstract: A system for generating a string based upon a plurality of places and a relationship between two or more of those places and for searching among the strings. Crosslinked databases contain information related to the strings, places within the strings, and users and creators of the strings. The strings represent an authentic user experience of a quality, character, and/or feel intended by the string author. The user experience can be further enhanced or guided through a narrative accompanying the string or places, written by the string author, that describes or invokes the quality, character or feel of the experience intended by the author.

  • Patent number: 8153442
Abstract: Methods and reagents are disclosed for conducting assays. Embodiments of the present methods and reagents are concerned with a solid support such as, for example, a particle. The support includes a chemiluminescent composition that includes a metal chelate. The present inventors observed that, when such support such as, e.g., particles, were employed in assays for the determination of an analyte, stability of signal output by the chemiluminescent composition associated with the particle was unacceptably reduced as compared to particles including other chemiluminescent compositions. In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, the stability of signal output from such particles is enhanced by including in a medium that contains the particles a sufficient amount of one or more stabilizing agents, which may be a chelating agent and/or a metal chelate such as, for example, the metal chelate that is associated with the particle.
