In some embodiments, the frangible glass articles can have a first surface region with a first elastic compressive stress energy per unit area of glass (Welcomp1), a second surface region with a second elastic compressive stress energy per unit area of glass (Welcomp2), and a central region with an elastic tensile stress energy per unit area of glass (WT), where (Welcomp1+Welcomp2)?WT?25 J/m2. In some embodiments, the frangible glass articles can have a total load ratio (Wi/GD) less than 6.5 and a total elastic compressive stress energy per unit area of glass (WC) less than 60% of a total load (Wi), where: WC=Welcomp1+Welcomp2, Wi=WC+WT, GD=4G1C, and G 1 ? C = K 1 ? C 2 ? ( 1 - v 2 ) E . In some embodiments, the frangible glass articles can have a differential load ratio (Wd/GIC) less than 7 ? 2 ? e ( - 1 ? 2 ? d ? 1 t ) .

  • Patent number: 11184087
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for encoding information using optical components are described. Information associated with a first optical signal (e.g., an optical pump) is encoded onto the phase of a second optical signal (e.g., an optical probe) using cross phase modulation (XPM) in a non-linear optical medium. The optical signals are multiplexed together into the nonlinear optical medium. The probe experiences a modified index of refraction as it propagates through the medium and thus accumulates a phase change proportional to the intensity of the pump. The disclosed devices can be incorporated into larger components and systems for various applications such as scientific diagnostics, radar, remote sensing, wireless communications, and quantum computing that can benefit from encoding and generation of low noise, high resolution signals.

  • Patent number: 11159461
Abstract: A system and method directed to determining one or more polls that a user may have missed during a period of inactivity is provided. Initially, a polling system may determine that a user is now active and may determine one or more polls that were created for or assigned to a user, or a group to which the user belongs, during the period of inactivity. The polling system may then surface a notification and/or an input window such that a user may provide polling input. In some instances, a user may have missed multiple polls; the polls presented to the user may be based on recent user activity and/or whether such missed polls are still live, or open.

  • Patent number: 11153226
Abstract: A proxy server automatically includes web applications in web pages at the network level. The proxy server receives, from a client device, a request for a network resource at a domain and is hosted at an origin server. The proxy server retrieves the requested network resource. The retrieved network resource does not include the web applications. The proxy server determines that the web applications are to be installed within the network resource. The proxy server automatically modifies the retrieved network resource to include the web applications. The proxy server transmits a response to the client device that includes the modified network resource. The network resource may remain unchanged at the origin server.

  • Publication number: 20210302927
Abstract: A process control system includes first type and second type controllers having different hardware architectures coupled together by a redundancy network for providing a controller pool. Primary application modules (AMs) are coupled to the controller platforms by a plant-wide network. The controller platforms are coupled by an input/output (I/O) mesh network to I/O devices to provide an I/O pool coupled to field devices coupled to processing equipment. A translating device translates states and values from one of the primary AMs running on a first type controller to generate a backup AM having an instruction set compatible with the second type controller. A controller application module orchestrator (CAMO) extends synchronization to the second type controller, makes the backup AM available to the second type controller, and then switches to utilize the second type controller as an active controller running the process.

  • Patent number: 11124398
Abstract: A lifting device with a head cavity in the lifting member shaped to accept a removable lifting head. The head cavity in the lifting device—e.g., the piston of a bottle jack—may be provided with threads, or may have the threads removed. A yoke fitted on the lifting head provides registration, horizontal restraint, or both against a lifted object, component, or surface to prevent sliding off the lifting head while in use. In a smooth-walled-shaft embodiment, a set of risers (spacers, adjusters, trims, or shims) serves to adjust an extension height of the shaft, elevating the lifting head with respect to the piston prior to beginning to lift the hydraulic piston.

  • Patent number: 11107020
Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein improve existing systems by automatically identifying tasks from a number of different types of user activity and providing suggestions for the tasks to one or more selected delivery mechanisms. A system compiles the tasks and pushes each task to a personalized task list of a user. The delivery of each task may be based on any suitable user activity, which may include communication between one or more users or a user's interaction with a particular file or a system. The system can identify timelines, performance parameters, and other related contextual data associated with the task. The system can identify a delivery schedule for the task to optimize the effectiveness of the delivery of the task. The system can also provide smart notifications. When a task conflicts with a person's calendar, the system can resolve scheduling conflicts based on priorities of a calendar event.

  • Publication number: 20210266501
Abstract: The disclosed techniques improve user engagement and promote efficient use of computing resources by providing dynamically controlled aspect ratios for communication session renderings based on a physical orientation of a device. In some configurations, a system can select a first aspect ratio for individual video streams of a communication session when a device is in a first orientation, e.g., a portrait orientation. In addition, the system can select a second aspect ratio for the individual video streams when the device is in a second orientation, e.g., a landscape orientation. In some configurations, the first aspect ratio can be greater than the second aspect ratio, or the aspect ratios can be selected based on a target aspect ratio, which can be adjusted over time. By dynamically selecting an aspect ratio for individual stream renderings, screen space of a device can be optimized while the device is held in various physical orientations.
