  • Patent number: 10642933
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for improving word prediction candidate selection in an electronic device. Input of one or more characters is received via a capacitive physical keyboard. A word prediction process generates a set of word prediction candidates, determines a unique character in each word prediction candidate, and displays the word prediction candidates along with visual indicia to indicate the unique character. A second input is then received comprising a tap input of a single character on the keyboard. The electronic device determines whether the second input corresponds to a unique character associated with any of the word prediction candidates, and if so, displays the selected word in an input field on the display.

  • Patent number: 10621328
Abstract: A method of authenticating access on an electronic device. A digital image overlaid by an array of alphanumeric characters is displayed on a three-dimensional display of the electronic device. The digital image includes a three-dimensional representation of a scene and is displayed in three-dimensional coordinates. The array of alphanumeric characters is positioned on the three-dimensional display with respect to the digital image in three dimensions in response to received input. Access to the electronic device is authenticated in response to detecting that a designated character in the digital image is aligned with a designated object in the digital image.

  • Publication number: 20200036726
Abstract: A data processing device is disclosed, which selectively grants devices access to an online session if the devices satisfy a discovery range requirement. The online session is associated with the discovery range requirement by which the online session is selectively discoverable by the devices. The data processing device determines an access metric representing interactions related to the online session, and adjusts the discovery range requirement based on the determined access metric such that the online session is discoverable by more or fewer devices. The data processing device then selectively grants the devices access to the online session based on the adjusted discovery range requirement.

  • Publication number: 20200021870
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide Video On Demand (VOD) services for remote use, e.g., at home, by streaming and viewing of purchased DVDs and Blu-rays by the owner of the purchased media by ensuring the owner owns the exact copy and is only viewing it at a single location at a time. Embodiments can also provide similar use and verification of streaming and listening to purchased CDs and audiobooks.

  • Publication number: 20190358473
Abstract: A face mask for filtering air includes a face seal for providing an airtight flexible seal around the nose and mouth of a user, a support sealably attached to the face seal, wherein the support has an open area that allows for passage of incoming air and outlet valves for expelling exhaled air, a front shell for removably attaching to the support, wherein the front shell has inlet holes for allowing the incoming air to pass through the open area of the support, and a filter for filtering particulate elements from air. The filter is configured to be housed between the front shell and the support. The face seal provides a direct connection between the filter and the user.

  • Publication number: 20190244680
Abstract: Machine-learning (ML) techniques and systems are advantageously employed in areas such as psychiatric genetics, and analysis of gene expression. Generative ML may be performed over large datasets to infer new pleiotropic effects of genetic variants in multiple neuropsychiatric diseases. Deep ML may infer information about psychiatric genetics. ML may realize an efficient estimation of multi-disease genetic and environmental correlation matrices. ML may obtaining protein expression data and generating a mapping between the protein expression data and at least one disease. ML may be performed on a data that that jointly models multiple diseases. Quantum processing can be advantageously employed in ML scenarios.

  • Patent number: 10203858
Abstract: A method of controlling display of information on a touch-sensitive display of a portable electronic device includes displaying selectable elements in an application screen. The first selectable element is located at a first location and, in response to receipt of an input, entering the display control mode of the portable electronic device. The method also includes, while in the display control mode and in response to receipt of a gesture on keys on a mechanical keyboard, moving, by an operating system on the portable electronic device, the application screen on the touch-sensitive display such that the first selectable element is moved to a second location. In response to detecting a touch at the second location while the first selectable element is displayed at the second location, utilizing, by the application, the touch to select the first selectable element. Returning the application to an original location on the touch-sensitive display when exiting the display control mode.
