Patent number: 11655609Abstract: A removable and replaceable end cap that selectively lockingly engages a seat ring of a filter housing. The end cap may include a flange that compresses a gasket member between the end cap and the seat ring to form a fluid tight seal therebetween. The end cap may include cam locking grooves that may each receive insertion of a protrusion of the seat ring, and which are structured for at least rotational displacement about the received protrusion as the end cap is rotated between locked and unlocked positions relative to the seat ring. The end cap may also include an opening that accommodates the passage of a fluid to a filter element. The filter element, which may be coupled to the end cap, may be adapted to remove particulate or contaminate from the received fluid.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2021Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: Jason Wells, Aaron Hoeg

Patent number: 11473028Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a process for producing synthetic hydrocarbon base oils having advantageous properties for formulation of engine oils, and the base oils obtained by such processes, involving the production of branched alkenes from the oligomerization of C14-C18 olefins. According to one embodiment, the base oils are obtained by first forming a mixture of two or more olefins ranging from C14-C18, where one of the olefins is an alpha olefin and the other has an average double bond position between 1.5-5.0, and oligomerizing this mixture in the presence of a catalyst to form one or more branched alkenes, hydrogenating the branched alkenes, and fractionating to form base oils. According to one aspect, advantageous properties can be obtained by controlling one or more of the degree of branching, branch length, branching positions, selection of the C14-C18 olefins, and catalytic isomerization, during or after the oligomerization process.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2018Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Novvi LLCInventors: Eduardo Baralt, Jason Wells, Jason Charles Rosalli, Wui Sum Willbe Ho, Liwenny Ho, Benton Thomas

Patent number: 11247948Abstract: Provided herein is a unique process that prepares a saturated hydrocarbon mixture with well-controlled structural characteristics that address the performance requirements driven by the stricter environmental and fuel economy regulations for automotive engine oils. The process allows for the branching characteristics of the hydrocarbon molecules to be controlled so as to consistently provide a composition that has a surprising CCS viscosity at ?35° C. (ASTM D5329) and Noack volatility (ASTM D5800) relationship. The process comprises providing a specific olefinic feedstock, oligomerizing in the presence of a BF3 catalyst, and hydroisomerizing in the presence of a noble-metal impregnated, 10-member ring zeolite catalyst.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2021Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignees: Chevron U.S.A. Publication number: 20140038855Abstract: Apparatus and methods provide rapid analysis of members of a combinatorial library. The apparatus includes a plurality of reactor vessels for containing individual library members, a fluid handling system that apportions a test fluid about equally between each of the vessels, and a housing for enclosing the reactor vessels. The housing defines a pressure chamber configured to sustain a pressure substantially above atmospheric pressure. This allows for simultaneous screening of library members at high pressure by providing a small pressure differential on reactor components. The apparatus is used for screening library members based on their ability to catalyze the conversion of fluid reactants.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2013Publication date: February 6, 2014Applicant: Intermolecular, Inc.Inventors: Sam H.
