Patent number: 10807892Abstract: A device for the housing and stimulation of underwater microbial activity has a lower inlet end and an upper discharge end, the lower inlet end defining an inlet opening therein, the housing defining multiple channels therein extending to the upper discharge end of the housing, the inlet opening communicating with interconnected channels, following an indirect non linear path between the inlet end opening to a discharge opening defined in the discharge end, so as to disrupt the path of fluid as it travels from the inlet opening to the discharge opening. The device has at least one leg extending from the lower inlet end to keep the device off the bottom of a waterbody floor to limit its susceptibility to clogging from the sediment bottom or growing organics. The leg has sufficient weight to sink to the bottom.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2017Date of Patent: October 20, 2020Assignee: BLUE PLANET ENVIRONMENTAL INC.Inventors: David Burns, Richard Lonetto, Jason Yeo

Patent number: 8967597Abstract: A device for the mixing of a gas into a liquid comprises a hollow frustum shape housing having a central axis, extended from a small diameter fluid outlet end, defining a fluid outlet opening, to a large diameter end; a liquid inlet port positioned adjacent the large diameter end is formed in said housing which allows delivery of pressurized liquid into said hollow housing, and a helically cut conical member is positioned and affixed within the hollow center of the housing with its axis aligned with that of the hollow frustum shape housing such that fluid delivered into the housing forms a swirling motion around the outside of the conical member as it passes from inlet port to outlet opening. The housing has a gas inlet for delivery of gas to the fluid within the frustum shaped housing at a position adjacent to the fluid outlet opening as the fluid moves from inlet to fluid outlet opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2009Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: Blue Planet Environmental Inc.Inventors: David Burns, Jason Yeo, Richard Lonetto

Patent number: 8905385Abstract: The device is of the frustum dispersion type having a housing forming a conical cavity, sealed at its large end, tapering to a discharge orifice at the other end. There is a fluid inlet, which tangential to the cavity near the sealed end. There is a hollow, tapered helix cut cone shape in the center of the cavity, affixed to the sealed end, with the point thereof axially aligned with the discharge orifice to help enable the continuous swirling motion of the contained fluid and to act as a gas inlet port to start the formation of a gas vortex. As fluid in the cavity approaches the discharge orifice, it is accelerated because of the reduction of area inside the cavity as it tapers. The change in specific gravities between the fluid and the gas causes a swirling centrifugal force on the liquid and a centripetal inner swirling of the gas. The result is at the point of discharge, the fluid is heavily loaded with small bubbles of gas.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2009Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Assignee: Blue Planet Environmental Inc.Inventors: David Burns, Jason Yeo, Richard Lonetto

Publication number: 20110187011Abstract: A device for infusion of gas into fluid, off gassing said fluid and returning said off gassed fluid to a body of fluid, comprises an intake tube having a bottom opening submergable below a body of fluid, gas diffusion means positioned within a bottom portion of said intake tube for infusing gas into fluid within said intake tube, whereby the rising bubbles of infused gas drives the liquid in the intake tube upwardly to a top portion of the intake tube and through a cross tube section in communication with said intake tube portion, said cross tube section extending substantially perpendicularly to said intake tube and above said body of fluid to an off gassing section, said off gassing section extending above the cross tube section and allowing said liquid to have surface exchange with the air and thus removal of gasses from the liquid and being positioned above the body of water, thereby creating a head differential.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2008Publication date: August 4, 2011Applicant: BLUE PLANET ENVIRONMENTAL INC.Inventors: David Burns, Jason Yeo, Richard Lonetto
