  • Patent number: 12287134
Abstract: An icemaker includes a casing that receives water from a water supply and is in thermal communication with an evaporator of a sealed system that chills the casing to freeze the water. An auger is mounted within the interior volume and is rotatable to scrape the ice from the casing and urge it through an extruder to form nugget ice. A BLDC motor is mechanically coupled to the auger to selectively rotate the auger. A controller determines a target speed of the auger based at least in part on the ice production parameter, and operates the BLDC motor to rotate the auger at the target speed. The BLDC motor with the speed-closed control loop can provide the constant speed and enough torque to prevent the ice maker from freezing. The controller can adjust the PWM and the voltage will be adjusted slightly, then the torque will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Patent number: 12265830
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments are related to techniques for powering compute platforms in low temperature environments. Embodiments include a preheating stage that is added to a power up sequence. The preheating stage may include a force-on stage and a force-offstage. During the force-on stage, all power rails of target components are forced to an ON state so that the target components consume current. When a target operating temperature is reached, the power rails of the target components are turned off, which causes the target components to revert back to their initial (pre-boot) state allowing the normal boot process to take place. Since the target components are now heated up, the boot process can execute faster than when the target components were cold. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 12235430
Abstract: A 2D spatial differentiator operates in transmission and comprises a Si Nano rod photonic crystal that can transform an image, Ein, into its second-order derivative, Eout ??2Ein, allowing for direct discrimination of the edges in the image. The use of a 2D photonic crystal allows for differentiation and edge detection in all directions with a numerical aperture (NA) up to 0.315 and an experimental resolution smaller than 4 ?m. The nanophotonic differentiator is able to be directly integrated into an optical microscope and onto a camera sensor, demonstrating the ease with which it can be vertically integrated into existing imaging systems. Furthermore, integration with a metalens is demonstrated for realizing a compact and monolithic image-processing system. In all cases, the use of the nanophotonic differentiator allows for a significant reduction in size compared to traditional systems, opening new doors for optical analog image processing in applications involving computer vision.
