Patent number: 9484771Abstract: Techniques are described for determining whether power from a first power source is unavailable to a power supply module. In response to determining that power from the first power source is unavailable, the techniques de-couple the first power source from one or more components of an electronic device connected to an output of the power supply module with one or more de-coupling components of the power supply module that connect an automatic transfer switch (ATS) of the power supply module to an output of the power supply module. Subsequent to de-coupling the first power source from the one or more components of the electronic device, the techniques de-couple a power supply module from the first power source. The techniques couple the power supply module to a second power source for delivering power to the one or more components of the electronic device.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2014Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Michael Braylovskiy, Jaspal Gill, Muhammad Sagarwala

Patent number: 9477284Abstract: A device determines a first received power via a first input feed of a circuit board, and determines a second received power via a second input feed of the circuit board. The device further determines whether the first input feed and the second input feed are receiving power based on the first received power and the second received power. The device opens a switch, of the circuit board, when the first input feed and the second input feed are receiving power.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2011Date of Patent: October 25, 2016Assignee: Juniper Networks Inc.Inventors: Michael Braylovskiy, Jaspal Gill, David Owen

Patent number: 8848362Abstract: A device may include multiple power supplies that are cooled by a system fan. The power supplies may be cross-connected to supply power to one another and the device may monitor temperatures of the power supplies. Based on the temperatures of the power supplies, the device may determine whether any of the power supplies are likely to be on fire. The device may shut off the fan when a power supply is determined to be likely to be on fire.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2011Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Thuan Che, Jaspal Gill, Frank Krippendorf

Patent number: 8797051Abstract: A device determines a first voltage measurement of an output of a first brick. The device further determines a second voltage measurement associated with a second brick. The first brick is larger in size than the second brick. The device ramps up an output voltage of the second brick when the second voltage measurement is less than the first voltage measurement.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2011Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Jaspal Gill, David Owen

Patent number: 8742624Abstract: A system may include a power module that includes a group of power supplies, particular ones of the group of power supplies being operable at a group of voltages ranging from a first voltage to a second voltage. The system may further include a controller coupled to the particular ones of the group of power supplies, the controller being to ramp up an output voltage, associated with the group of power supplies, from the first voltage to the second voltage in a group of discrete steps; where ramping up the output voltage by a particular one of the group of discrete steps is performed while a load is receiving power from the group of power supplies; and where ramping up the output voltage by a particular one of the group of discrete steps prevents over-current protection on the group of power supplies from being activated.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2010Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Muhammad Sagarwala, Thomas Alexander, Jaspal Gill, Michael Braylovskiy, Cynthia Wang

Patent number: 8582305Abstract: A power connection system includes a power attachment assembly (PAA) to house power cables that transport electrical power, where the cables are terminated by a connector associated with the PAA; and a power supply to provide the power to a network device, where the power supply includes another connector and a group of circuit breakers that correspond to the cables. The PAA and the power supply permit the cables to be connected to the power supply, and permit the connector and the other connector to be connected to form a junction via which the power is transported. The circuit breakers, when turned on, permit the power to be received from the cables via the PAA. The system also includes a handle to disconnect the PAA from the power supply in a manner that turns off the circuit breakers prior to disconnecting the PAA from the power supply.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2011Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Philip Quaife, Jaspal Gill

Patent number: 8395361Abstract: An active voice-band filter includes a regulator to regulate an input current to the regulator and to convert DC voltage from an input bus to a higher DC voltage at an output of the regulator; an output voltage feedback loop, connected to the output of a regulator, for generating an output voltage value; and a current control loop for generating a control signal to regulate an input current of the regulator, where the control signal is based on an input bus current measurement and a reference voltage value. The reference voltage value is calculated using both of the output voltage value and an input bus voltage signal. The regulator regulates the input current to the regulator, based on the control signal, to reject voice band range current harmonics from the higher DC voltage.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2010Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Michael Braylovskiy, Jaspal Gill, David Owen, Ben Kurolapnik

Patent number: 8354830Abstract: A power system includes a switch, a capacitor and a comparator circuit. The power system receives a signal to turn off power supplied to the power system, turns off the switch that is used to supply power to the system and discharges the capacitor. The power system also compares a voltage across the discharging capacitor to a threshold voltage value, and turns on the switch to allow power to be supplied to the power system when the compared voltage across the discharging capacitor equals the threshold voltage value.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2012Date of Patent: January 15, 2013Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Jaspal Gill, David Owen, Thuan Che

Patent number: 8269373Abstract: A device may include a plurality of direct current to direct current (DC/DC) converters that may produce voltages, and a first device that may receive a signal from a second device on a removable module when the removable module is coupled to the device. The first device may produce, based on the signal, an instruction related to one or more voltages associated with the removable module. The instruction may cause a first DC/DC converter and a second DC/DC converter, of the plurality of DC/DC converters, to power up at different times based on a particular sequence, and generate the one or more voltages. The particular sequence may be based on the signal. The first device may cause the one or more voltages, generated by the first DC/DC converter and the second DC/DC converter, to be provided to the removable module.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2011Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Jaspal Gill, David Keith Owen, Troy Sheets, Daniel Lewis Kline
