    Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the quantity of moisture in a given region includes a crystal of sodium chloride, a support for the crystal in the region and means for detecting the change in the electrical resistance of the crystal caused by the exposure of the crystal to moisture. A dry gas is caused to flow intermittently over the crystal to remove the accumulated moisture from it. This prevents the crystal from dissolving and allows the use of a smaller crystal than would otherwise be possible.
