Publication number: 20250039797Abstract: Methods, systems and devices for controlling an operating configuration of a network device such as a wireless access point include detecting power supplied to the access point. Operating parameters of the access point, neighboring access points, and client devices wirelessly connected to the access point are determined. The access point is placed in a reduced-capability operating configuration in response to detecting the power supplied is less than a power threshold. The reduced-capability operating configuration is based on the determined operating parameters of the access point, neighboring access points, and client devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2024Publication date: January 30, 2025Inventors: Nadeem Akhtar, Preyas Hathi, Jatin Parekh, Anubhav Gupta

Patent number: 12144014Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for applying quality metrics for resource unit (RU) allocation in connection with a wireless access point (AP). In response to detecting threshold utilization of an AP by multiple wireless clients, an RU score is initialized. For each initialized RU score, an updated RU score is periodically computed. To perform this computation several steps are performed. First, RU quality metrics are received. Next, each quality metric is multiplied by an associated weighting coefficient. Finally, the quality products are summed to provide an updated RU score. In response to determining that a puncture candidate RU has a puncture candidate RU score below a predetermined threshold, one or more RUs are punctured or otherwise de-prioritized. A request to assign new RUs is received. In response to the request to assign the new RUs, the new RUs are assigned based on the periodically updated RU scores.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2022Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: ARISTA NETWORKS, INC.Inventors: Preyas Satish Hathi, Nadeem Akhtar, Jatin Parekh, Anubhav Gupta

Publication number: 20240284180Abstract: A method of operating an access point in a wireless network is provided. The method can include detecting that a client in the wireless network is connecting to, connected to, or communicating with an unauthorized access point. The method can further include using the access point to send a spoofed management frame impersonating the unauthorized access point to the client in response to detecting that the client is connected to or communicating with the unauthorized access point. The spoofed management frame can include a channel switch announcement information element and/or an extended channel switch announcement information element directing the client to switch to a new channel so that the client disconnects from the unauthorized access point.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2023Publication date: August 22, 2024Inventors: Anubhav Gupta, Pratik Bathe, Jatin Parekh

Publication number: 20240073811Abstract: A proactive energy-saving processing in an access point (AP) device is described. The AP monitors/computes usage/operating parameters (load factors) of the AP, and based on the obtained parameters, adjusts one or more AP operating parameters to reduce power consumption. The process is proactive in the sense that the current conditions in the AP do not require scaling back AP functionality. Nonetheless, the AP can scale back some functionality to reduce its power consumption, proactively, despite the absence of a need to do so.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2022Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Preyas Satish Hathi, Nadeem Akhtar, Jatin Parekh, Anubhav Gupta

Publication number: 20230413053Abstract: A networking system may disrupt an unauthorized wireless connection to the network. In particular, the networking system may detect a wireless connection between a client device and an unauthorized wireless access point. The networking system may receive a probe request management frame from the client device. The network system may, responsive to the detection of the wireless connection, send a probe response management frame to the client device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2022Publication date: December 21, 2023Inventors: Jatin Parekh, Anubhav Gupta, Amogh Dasture, Nadeem Akhtar

Patent number: 11477803Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for improving communication efficiency in environments featuring both 802.11ax devices and legacy devices. Although 802.11ax introduces the ability for multiple devices to transmit simultaneously over a wireless channel, this feature is not used to its full potential because legacy devices transmit using turn-based communication (waiting for the channel to free up before transmitting). To create the illusion that the channel is free, in one method, an 802.11ax access point lowers the power for 802.11ax transmissions in a portion of a wireless channel being utilized by the legacy device. In another method, the 802.11ax access point blanks the portion of the wireless channel altogether (i.e., does not schedule transmissions over the portion). As a result of these methods, signal interference is reduced, and legacy devices do not halt transmissions to follow turn-based communication.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2019Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: ARISTA NETWORKS, INC.Inventors: Nadeem Akhtar, Jatin Parekh

Patent number: 10952226Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a systems and methods for concurrent wireless transmission. In one embodiment the present disclosure includes a wireless transmission method. A first wireless device may determine that a first wireless transmission using a first protocol between a plurality of wireless devices is not intended for processing by the first wireless device. The first wireless device may determine if a first power level of the first wireless transmission is below a threshold. The first wireless device may perform a second wireless transmission using a second protocol between the first wireless device and at least a second wireless device during the first wireless transmission when the first power level is below the threshold. A second power level of the second wireless transmission may be set to a first value determined based on the threshold. In other embodiments, techniques for sending packets concurrently are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2019Date of Patent: March 16, 2021Assignee: Arista Networks, Inc.Inventors: Nadeem Akhtar, Jatin Parekh
