    Abstract: The present invention faces the issue of coordinating the policy control for a hybrid access gateway, HAG, and a hybrid customer premises equipment, HCPE, which may access a core network through a fixed network and a mobile network. The present invention provides for a method of controlling these policies and basically comprising: transmitting, from a policy server to a configuration server, configuration data to obtain a first policy to be applied at the HCPE to trigger traffic distribution at the HCPE; obtaining at the configuration server, and by using the received configuration data, the first policy to be applied at the HCPE; installing, from the configuration server to the HCPE, the first policy to trigger traffic distribution at the HCPE; and installing, from the policy server to the HAG, a second policy to be applied at the HAG to trigger traffic distribution at the HAG.

The precoder is arranged to pre-distort each symbol block based on an estimate of the characteristics of the transmission channel so that the corresponding transmission block appears to be undistorted after transmission over the transmission channel. In accordance therewith, the precoder is arranged to apply Tomlinson-Harashima precoding on a sum of a first measure corresponding to predistortion so as to remove intrasymbol interference and a second measure corresponding to predistortion so as to remove intersymbol interference. The present invention further relates to a method for providing transmission blocks for transmission over a transmission channel in a communication system.

    Abstract: A method, central unit, and modem for reducing crosstalk in a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) system. A virtual line referred to as a ghost line is introduced in the system as a substitution for all of the lines except a first line to induce crosstalk to the first line. The Power Spectral Density (PSD) on the first line is allocated to optimize against the ghost line. A modem on the first line reports to a central Spectrum Management Center (SMC), a measure indicating crosstalk impact from the ghost line. This process is repeated for each line. The SMC calculates updated ghost line parameters for each line, which reflect current crosstalk characteristics between each modem and the remaining modems, and sends the updated parameters to the modems. The modems then reallocate PSDs with respect to the updated ghost line parameters to either maximize the rate or minimize the power on their respective lines.

    Abstract: A method and loop qualification unit for determining loop parameters of a topology of a twisted pair loop for a digital subscriber line system. The parameters are represented by a vector that receives a measurement of a SELT parameter measured at one end of the loop and a measurement of a DELT loop transfer function measured at both ends of the loop. A first model generator generates a first model for the SELT parameter and a second model generator generates a second model for the DELT function based on the loop parameters represented by the vector. A processor then determines the parameters by minimizing the differences between the first model and the SELT parameter, and the second model and the DELT function. The determined parameters are represented by the vector that provides the minimization.

    Abstract: A method and loop qualification unit for determining loop parameters of a topology of a twisted pair loop for a digital subscriber line system. The parameters are represented by a vector that receives a measurement of a SELT parameter measured at one end of the loop and a measurement of a DELT loop transfer function measured at both ends of the loop. A first model generator generates a first model for the SELT parameter and a second model generator generates a second model for the DELT function based on the loop parameters represented by the vector.
