  • Publication number: 20220262540
Abstract: The disclosed concept pertains to thermoplastic based materials, e.g., thermoplastic based composites, that are suitable replacements for known thermoset based materials, e.g., unsaturated polyesters, as insulators for circuit protection in electrical contact/non-contact applications, such as, but not limited to, housings, casings, enclosures, encapsulated or over-molded parts. In certain embodiments, the thermoplastic based materials house miniature circuit breakers, and arc and ground fault circuit breakers.

  • Publication number: 20190113158
Abstract: A fluid conduit includes a first portion and a second portion disposed at least partially around the first portion. The first portion may include an extruded thermoplastic. The second portion may include a plurality of layers formed via fiber reinforced thermoplastic tape, tows, and/or fabric. The first portion and the second portion may be substantially rigid and may include concentric cylindrical cross-sections. The fiber reinforced thermoplastic tape, tows, and/or fabric may include nano-additives and/or micro-additives.

  • Publication number: 20110076474
Abstract: A nanocomposite composition includes a polymer and a barrier component sufficiently dispersed within the polymer so as to define a tortuous path within the polymer. The barrier component includes a nano-constituent including a plurality of layers and a macro-constituent including a plurality of particles. Each of the plurality of layers has a first average thickness and each of the plurality of particles has a second average thickness that is greater than the first average thickness. A nanocomposite system includes a substrate and a coating disposed on the substrate and formed from the nanocomposite composition.
