  • Patent number: 11504701
Abstract: This invention is related to the synthesis of organic carbonates from carbon dioxide and epoxides. It is particularly focused on the production of propylene cyclic carbonate from propylene oxide. The proposed catalytic materials includes a support made of aluminum oxyhydroxide (Catapal B®), nitric acid, acetic acid and/or phosphoric acid. An important stage is the physical and chemical conditioning of the catalytic materials and to this end, experimental methodologies such as spheronization and thermal treatments were implemented prior the evaluation process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 2020
Date of Patent: November 22, 2022
    Assignee: INSTITUTO MEXICANO DEL PETROLEO
Inventors: Javier Guzman Pantoja, Edith Meneses Ruiz, Candido Aguilar Barrera, Andrea Rodriguez Hernandez, Isidoro Garcia Cruz, Jose Antonio Munoz Arroyo, Juan Carlos Gaytan Ramos

  • Publication number: 20190193063
Abstract: The present invention describes a process to prepare catalyst systems based on metal salts, supported on natural polymers and co-catalyzed by organic bases, for the catalytic transformation of carbon dioxide to organic carbonates through cycloaddition reactions to epoxides. The advantages of the presented system can be summarized on the use of raw materials of low cost for the preparation of the catalyst system, minimal environmental risk due to the low toxicity of the materials used, in some cases biodegradable such as the natural polymers, as well as high catalytic efficiency, reaching selectivities up to 100% and in some cases quantitative yields.

  • Publication number: 20180140993
Abstract: The present invention describes a combined liquid absorbent system to capture gaseous CO2. The said combination is given by the mixture of an IL and an amino acid aqueous solution. This mixture has an improved CO2 absorption performance with respect to the separate components that are part of it. These components can be regenerated and reused in several absorption cycles without losing absorption capacity.

  • Patent number: 9675941
Abstract: The present invention relates to the synthesis of linear aromatic polyimides and the production of membranes for the separation of gases. Specifically, polyimides featuring in their chemical structure, in the part derived from a diamine, 4-fluoro-4?,4?-diaminotriphenylmethane, and an aromatic dianhydride derived from tetracarboxylic acid. Polyimides are soluble in amidic solvents such as N,N?-dimethylformamide, N,N?-dimethylacetamide, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, etc., which are processed as dense membranes by controlled evaporation of the solvent. The resulting membranes are capable of separating at least a gaseous mixture constituted by two components such as H2/CH4, He/N2, H2/CO2, O2/N2, CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2.
