  • Patent number: 11802271
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for irradiating a population of mammalian cells comprising at least one target mammalian cell with electron beams and/or X-rays, characterized in that: (i) a composition comprising a population of mammalian cells is irradiated in vitro with electron beams and/or X-rays, the population of mammalian cells containing at least one target mammalian cell and the dose rate being within the range from 5 Gy/sec to 107 Gy/sec, and (ii) optionally viable target mammalian cells are isolated or enriched from the population of mammalian cells, and to agents obtainable thereby and to uses thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2018
Date of Patent: October 31, 2023
Assignee: FRAUNHOFER-GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FÖRDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG E.V.
Inventors: Frank-Holm Rögner, Sebastian Ulbert, Jana Burkhardt, Javier Portillo, Jessy Schönfelder
  • Patent number: 11224669
Abstract: The invention relates to the processing of fluid biological media, especially of culture media or cell- or virus suspensions, potentially containing active pathogens, with the aim of inactivating these pathogens and/or modifying ingredients in these biological media by thermal or radiological treatment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 31, 2017
Date of Patent: January 18, 2022
Assignee: FRAUNHOFER-GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FÖRDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG E.V.
Inventors: Martin Thoma, Klaus Fischer, Javier Portillo
  • Patent number: 10980903
Abstract: Methods and Apparatus are provided for irradiating a liquid with accelerated electrons. The liquid is prepared. The liquid is mixed with particles having at least one luminescent substance, where the particles are formed such that the particles are dispersed in the liquid after mixing. The liquid is irradiated with an electromagnetic radiation, which induces the at least one luminescent substance to luminesce. An actual value of a physical quantity characterizing the luminescence of the luminescent substance is detected. The liquid is irradiated with accelerated electrons until the detected actual value corresponds to a target value.
    Type: Grant
