  • Patent number: 7391529
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for processing documents each represented by a document description (12) encoded in a page description language supportive of reusable data includes a page description language interpreter (14) that receives the document description (12) and parses the document description (12) into document components. An imager (16), communicating with the interpreter (14), creates image representations of received document components. A reusable document component repository (32) stores image representations derived from a plurality of processed documents. The reusable document component repository (32) communicates with the interpreter (14) and the imager (16) to supply those ones of the image representations corresponding to selected document components of the processed documents and to receive selected image representations created by the imager (16) during the processing of documents.

  • Patent number: 6525721
Abstract: A color manager high level navigation system comprising a graphical user interface, a color manager selection icon at the highest navigation level of the graphical user interface and a color manager further comprising a view menu, a characterization tool icon for activating a profile characterization tool and a profile list window. The view menu includes a filter selection that causes all available profiles to be displayed, a filter selection that causes only destination profiles to be displayed, a filter selection that causes only source profiles to be displayed, a filter selection that causes only device gray source profiles to be displayed, a filter selection that causes only device RGB source profiles to be displayed, a filter selection that causes only device CMY source profiles to be displayed and a filter selection that causes only device CMYK source profiles to be displayed.

  • Patent number: 6498610
Abstract: Provided is a device that allows a DFE decomposer supported for a particular format, such as ICC profile formats, to utilize multiple transformation databases concurrently. For each database, a software plug-in is created to interpret the specific format of particular databases. The plug-ins convert the contents of the third party database into a common structure understood by a decomposer of a digital front end (DFE). The plug-in interface includes data (i.e. structures) and behavior (i.e. methods) supported by all plug-ins. A plug-in for a supported database (i.e. ICC profile formats) is also provided. An interface between a color control manager and decomposer module is used to inform the decomposer of changes to the supported database. An appropriate plug-in may then retrieve data and update an internal database of the decomposer while the system is operating. Updatings of third party databases occur upon initialization of the system.

  • Publication number: 20020087470
Abstract: A billing module for a document processing system is configured by the document processing system. The billing module accepts a billing strategy from the document processing system. The billing strategy lists parameters or events the billing module is to monitor. Additionally the billing strategy provides algorithms. The algorithms define the function of billing meters. The billing module instantiates meters according to the strategy and updates the meters based on the monitored parameters as described by the billing strategy. The billing module is used by a wide variety of devices. Device developers need only define the billing strategy, in for example a billing strategy script. The need to “hard code” custom billing software for each new device is eliminated. Instead the billing module is reused and simply reconfigured via the billing strategy script.

  • Patent number: 6035243
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for utilizing the characteristics of a pallet, or tray, used to supply workpieces to an automated, flexible assembly station or workcell. Once the characteristics are described and stored in memory, they may be used to uniquely identify workpieces which are determined to be defective during the automatic assembly operations. The defect information may then be stored in a cell controller which controls one or more workcells for later recall, in order to determine what, if any, further processing should be conducted on the defective workpieces and to prevent further processing thereof.
