  • Patent number: 11673997
Abstract: The present invention provides a polyaspartic composition comprising a reaction product of a polyamine and a Michael addition receptor reacted in the presence of a catalyst comprising a phenolic compound, with the proviso that the phenolic compound is not a phenol which is substituted with tert-butyl groups in both ortho positions to the oxygen. Suitable phenolic compounds include phenols, phenolic aldehydes, alkylphenols, benzenediols, cashew nut oil, and combinations thereof. Coatings, adhesives, sealants, composites, castings, and films comprising a polyurea composition may be made by reacting a polyisocyanate with the inventive polyaspartic composition. In particular, floor coatings made with the inventive polyaspartic composition have an elongated work time and a short walk-on time compared to current floor coatings.

  • Publication number: 20140221564
Abstract: The present invention provides water swellable one-component sealants prepared by incorporation of polyols containing ethylene oxide (“EO”) into the backbone of the polymer. The inventive one-component hydrophilic polyurethane sealant contains a silane-terminated polyurethane prepolymer, a compound having an ethylene oxide content of at least about 40 wt. %, based on the weight of the compound and a catalyst, optionally, one or more of plasticizers, fillers, pigments, drying agents, light stabilizers, antioxidants, thixotropic agents and bonding agents. The one-component hydrophilic polyurethane sealant increases at least about 1.4% by weight and at least about 2.5% by volume upon exposure to water for 24 hours and are capable of curing in a high humidity environment (including underwater) without foaming and maintain physical characteristics such as hardness.

  • Publication number: 20090030161
Abstract: This invention relates to novel allophanate-modified diphenylmethane diisocyanates, prepolymers of these allophanate-modified diphenylmethane diisocyanates, and two-component polyureas and one-component polyureaurethanes prepared from these prepolymers. In addition, the invention also relates to processes for the preparation of these various compositions, and to the preparation of sealants from the two-component polyureas and caulking agents from the one-component polyureaurethanes.

  • Patent number: 6797798
Abstract: Spray polyurea elastomers and reaction systems and methods for making the same. The spray polyurea elastomers are prepared with a prepolymer formed by reacting a low 2,4′-isomer content MDI with an MDI reactive component. This prepolymer is blended with a high 2,4′-isomer content MDI to form a quasi-prepolymer. The quasi-prepolymer is reacted with an amine resin to form polyurea elastomers.
