  • Patent number: 10767080
Abstract: Disclosed is a coating composition suitable for coating onto a wall or other substrate to yield a dry-erase coating, The composition may be prepared by reacting an excess amount of an aminosilane with a carbonate, an epoxy alcohol, or both in aqueous media to yield a silylurethane, and/or a silylamino polyol. In some approaches, the compositions and/or methods may further include an epoxysilane, and allowing the epoxysilane to react with the aminosilane to yield an aminodisilane. This reaction will result in a coating composition that comprises one of a silylurethane, a silylamino polyol, or both, and the aminodisilane. The aqueous mixture of the silylurethane, the silylamino polyol, or both, and the aminodisilane together constitute a coating composition that, upon curing, forms a dry-erase coating.

  • Patent number: 10125281
Abstract: Disclosed is a coating composition suitable for coating onto a wall or other substrate to yield a dry-erase coating. The composition may be prepared by reacting an excess amount of an aminosilane with a carbonate in aqueous media to yield a silylurethane, introducing an epoxysilane, and allowing the epoxysilane to react with the aminosilane to yield an aminodisilane. This reaction will result in a coating composition that comprises the silylurethane and the aminodisilane. The aqueous mixture of the silylurethane and the aminodisilane together constitute a coating composition that, upon curing, forms a dry-erase coating.

  • Patent number: 10106703
Abstract: Disclosed is a coating composition suitable for coating onto a wall or other substrate to yield a dry-erase coating. The composition may be prepared by providing an aminoalkoxysilane, and in the substantial absence of water, reacting a portion of the aminoalkoxysilane with a carbonate and reacting a portion of the aminoalkoxysilane with an epoxy compound. These reactions will result in a coating composition that comprises a mixture of alkoxysilylamines and alkoxysilylcarbamates. The coating composition can also include an alkyl amine in an amount effective to catalytically deprotect alkoxy groups to yield silanol groups, facilitating fast crosslinking.

  • Publication number: 20180022931
Abstract: A paint system having a base coating composition and a top coating composition, each having a low VOC value preferably below 50 g/l, is disclosed. The base coating composition includes a release material and the top coating composition includes a pigment and a paint emulsion. The base coat formulation is applied to a surface to form a base coating and the top coat layer is applied over the top coating. When dry, the top coating has high cohesion relative to the adhesion of top coating to base coating, thereby permitting the top coating to be manually peeled away from the surface. Related methods are also disclosed.
