  • Publication number: 20050245159
Abstract: A breathable barrier composite of cellulosic fibers includes a compressed mixture of hydrophobic cellulosic fibers and thermally-bondable polyolefin fibers. The composite has a combination of high liquid barrier properties, and high air and moisture vapor porosity. The composite also has a very soft and cottony texture. The breathable barrier composite may optionally contain a nonwoven layer, such as a spunbond or an SMS nonwoven, a polyolefin film layer, or a nonwoven wipe layer.

  • Publication number: 20050212488
Abstract: In a method and system for recovering and reconditioning a smart battery, a functionally dead condition of the battery is detected. The battery includes an electronics unit. The electronics unit is operable for controlling an operating condition of the battery. In the functionally dead condition of the battery, the electronics unit becomes inoperable. While in this condition, a current limited trickle charge is provided to the battery such that the path of the trickle charge bypasses the inoperable electronics unit. Upon the battery receiving a sufficient amount of charge, the electronics unit regains control. The electronics unit reconditions the battery by recharging it to a fully charged state.

  • Publication number: 20050112457
Abstract: An information handling system includes a battery assembly that is separable into two or more battery subassemblies to facilitate shipping. The battery subassemblies mechanically and electrically connect together to provide a completed battery assembly that exhibits increased power capacity as compared with an individual battery subassembly alone. In one embodiment, the individual battery subassemblies are sufficiently small in power capacity or other characteristic to avoid the increased shipping expense incurred when batteries exceed a certain threshold in power capacity, chemistry or other threshold characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20040159413
Abstract: Systems and processes are provided for the treatment of cellulosic pulp rolls. Generally, the systems and processes apply a series of compositions, such as debonding compositions, binder compositions and lubricant compositions, to cellulosic fiber webs provided on pulp rolls. The systems and processes provide a cost effective means by which to form cellulosic fiber pellets which may then be incorporated into a variety of end uses.

  • Patent number: 5991528
Abstract: An expert manufacturing system generates a manufacturing plan for producing a part in an automated manufacturing system. The expert manufacturing system generates a multipurpose manufacturing geometry definitions file. The expert manufacturing system includes a rule-based expert system which uses the manufacturing geometry definitions file to generate the manufacturing plan in the form of a neutral source code file. The neutral source code is converted to machine-specific program code directly executable by a device controller, such as a logic controller or motion controller. The expert manufacturing system also includes a parametric drawing generation program for generating drawing of the part, and a computer simulation program for simulating the manufacturing plan for producing the part.

  • Patent number: 5159012
Abstract: An improved process for the manufacture of polyurethane elastomers from a reaction mixture which comprises a polyol, an isocyanate, water, a bismuth catalyst and an optional filler. In the improved process of this invention, the rate of reaction is decreased by the addition of water to the reaction mixture and increased by the removal of water from the reaction mixture.
