  • Publication number: 20080202200
Abstract: A method for removing position-dependent bias from tracking systems computes invertible transformations between a tracking system and a reference system, and applies an inverse of the transformation to measurements in the tracking system to estimate the locations of reference points in the reference system and to determine relative bias at the measured points.

  • Publication number: 20080144908
Abstract: A method and apparatus for approximating a path of movement of a target. The method includes referencing a temporal sequence of images, identifying a plurality of data points associated with a selected volume element of the volume of interest, and calculating an estimated location of the selected volume element based on a cost function having a constraint which favors continuous spatial motion of the selected volume element over time. Each of the images of the temporal sequence of images depicts a volume of interest. Each of the plurality of data points corresponds to one of the images.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 13, 2006
    Publication date: June 19, 2008
Inventors: Jay B. West, Calvin R. Maurer
  • Publication number: 20080123813
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically determining a beam parameter at each of a plurality of treatment nodes are disclosed. The beam parameter may include a beam shape, beam size and/or beam orientation. Systems and methods for automatically selecting multiple collimators in a radiation treatment system are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7352370
Abstract: A method and apparatus for representing a deformable volume of interest in four dimensions is described, where the four dimensions are three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension including discrete points in time, and where the deformable volume of interest can be represented at intermediate points in time by interpolation.

  • Patent number: 7266176
Abstract: An apparatus and method for optimizing a workspace of a radiation treatment delivery system. An optimized treatment plan is generated for delivering a dose of radiation to a volume of interest (“VOI”) in a patient using fewer changes to a treatment plan parameter during delivery of the dose of radiation then available to a radiation treatment delivery system. The optimized treatment plan limits a number of adjustments to the treatment plan parameter during delivery of the dose of radiation. Prior to delivery, the optimized treatment plan is analyzed to determine whether a quality of the optimized treatment plan is acceptable.
