Patent number: 9654050Abstract: A power tool includes a housing, an electric motor mounted in the housing, and a switching device for reversing rotation direction of the motor. The switching device includes an actuator slidably secured to the housing and movable between first and second positions. The actuator includes a magnet. A first ferromagnetic member is attached to a first housing section so as to be within range of attraction force of the magnet when the actuator is in the first position and a second ferromagnetic member is attached to a second housing section so as to be within range of attraction force of the magnet when the actuator is in the second position. A hall sensor is attached to the housing so as to be proximate the magnet as the actuator is moved between first and second positions. Proximity of the magnet and hall sensor reverses the direction of rotation of the motor.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2011Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: Ingersoll-Rand CompanyInventors: Christopher Anthony Kokinelis, Randolph Robert Ruetsch, Daniel Jay Becker

Publication number: 20150374520Abstract: The stent of this invention is a self-expanding stent created by a scaffolding lattice. The stent may be made from a nickel-titanium alloy. The lattice is formed from two different types of helices that proceed circumferentially in opposite directions along the longitudinal axis of the stent. The helices have no free ends. The first type of helix is formed by a series of undulations and the second type of helix is formed from a series of connection elements. The undulations may be in a zigzag or sinusoidal pattern. The connection elements connect the junction points lying on adjacent turns of the first type of helix. The junction points are formed by the ascending and descending arms of the undulations or zigzags. The ends of the stent may be formed by a closed circumferential element which is linked by connection elements to a transition zone. The transition zone is formed by a closed loop that connects directly to the first helix.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2015Publication date: December 31, 2015Inventors: Robert John Cottone, JR., Gary Jay Becker

Patent number: 9044850Abstract: A power tool includes a motor having an outwardly extending rotor that defines a drive axis, a housing surrounding the motor, and a gearcase that includes a drive train coupled to the rotor and configured to drive a tool output. The gearcase includes a proximal end and an opposite distal end that is exposed to the outside of the tool forward of the housing. The gearcase includes respective locking elements spaced around the periphery of the gearcase proximal end. A motor mount includes spaced apart locking elements that are configured to engage with respective gearcase locking elements. The proximal end portion of the gearcase is adapted to make contact with the motor mount between the locking elements and then rotate such that the gearcase locking elements engage the motor mount locking elements.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2012Date of Patent: June 2, 2015Assignee: Ingersoll-Rand CompanyInventors: Christopher Anthony Kokinelis, Justin Terrance Chellew, Timothy John Bok, Daniel Jay Becker

Patent number: 9016398Abstract: A power tool includes a motor having an output shaft that defines an axis, a drive train connected to the output shaft and operable to drive a tool output and a housing at least partially surrounding the motor and the drive train. The power tool further includes a reference disk fixed to the housing, a collar including internal teeth that engage at least a portion of the drive train and a torque transducer having a hub, a web and a rim. The torque transducer is positioned between the collar and the reference disk such that the rim is connected to the collar and the hub is connected to the reference disk. The web defines a first thickness measured parallel to the axis and the rim defines a second thickness measured in a radial direction with respect to the axis, such that the second thickness is greater than the first thickness.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2008Date of Patent: April 28, 2015Assignee: Ingersoll-Rand CompanyInventors: John Paul Steckel, Daniel Jay Becker

Patent number: 8714416Abstract: A handle attachment configured to provide a secure handle for a spray can and enable the operation of a dispenser valve of the spray can. The attachment includes a housing that defines a grip, a cap coupled to the housing, and an actuation device pivotally mounted to the housing. The cap has a C-shaped rim surrounding an opening that is sized to accommodate a valve mounting cup of the spray can. The rim has a lower portion in which a flange and slots are defined. The slots enable the lower portion of the rim to deflect radially outward relative to the remainder of the rim above the slots. The rigidity of the rim above its lower portion is increased with a ring that compresses the rim above the lower portion and/or a shoulder that defines an increased wall thickness of the cap above the lower portion.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2011Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Inventor: Kenneth Jay Becker
