  • Patent number: 7195771
Abstract: A paper product that is applied with a water-soluble lotion composition is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, the lotion composition includes water in an amount up to about 90% by weight of said lotion composition, a water-soluble skin-conditioning component in an amount up to about 75% by weight of said lotion composition, a viscosity modifier component in an amount up to about 10% by weight of said lotion composition, and an optional liquid-coupling component in an amount up to about 60% by weight of said lotion composition. Typically, the add-on level of the lotion composition is between about 1% to about 25% by weight of the paper product. As a result, the paper product can be used to dry the hands of a user, while also imparting certain benefits to the skin as well.

  • Patent number: 6733773
Abstract: A paper product that is applied with a lotion composition is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, the lotion composition includes water in an amount up to about 90% by weight of the lotion, an emollient component in an amount up to about 20% by weight of the lotion, a fatty alcohol component in an amount up to about 50% by weight of the lotion, an emulsifier component in an amount up to about 40% by weight of the lotion, and a skin conditioning component in an amount up to about 60% by weight of the lotion. Typically, the add-on level of the lotion composition is between about 1% to about 15% by weight of the paper product. As a result, the paper product can be used to dry the hands of a user, while also imparting certain benefits to the skin as well.

  • Publication number: 20020162635
Abstract: A product and process of making an absorbent paper article such as paper products, towels, napkins and the like is disclosed. In the invention, one may supply a single furnish, or slurry, of cellulose fibers. Then, it is possible to separate or fractionate the slurry into at least two portions based upon fiber length in the slurry. Fines are employed in the process of manufacturing the products, and fines are specifically incorporated into an inner layer of the final paper products. Fines, short fibers, and/or fibrils are used in the process so they may contribute in a positive manner to the final paper product, rather than acting in a negative manner as a chemical “sponge” or waste material. This use of fines in the inner layers of the product reduces the manufacturing cost and waste produced in the process. A soft paper product with good strength characteristics results from the process.

  • Patent number: 6432272
Abstract: The present invention provides compressed paper webs that maintain a substantial amount of their absorptive capacity and wet strength when compressed. The compressed webs bounce back to a portion of their uncompressed state when wetted. The present compressed webs allow more towels to be added to a dispenser without substantially sacrificing the absorbent capacity or the strength of the towels.

  • Publication number: 20020035967
Abstract: Methods are provided for preparing absorbent material, comprising providing non-broken down and uncut recycled fiber sludge having a moisture content of greater than about 40%; pelletizing said recycled fiber sludge to form wet pellets; and drying said wet pellets. The absorbent material is particularly useful as an industrial-grade waste liquid absorbent and/or an animal litter.

  • Patent number: 6146498
Abstract: The present invention provides a core for receiving a wound product wherein the core is made of a waste sludge produced in a papermaking process. The process for making the core includes the steps of mixing the sludge with a binder material, which may be either a wet strength or a dry strength agent, and then compressing the mixture into a core through a process such as extrusion or molding. Optionally, the sludge may be dried prior to mixing with the binder material.
