Abstract: In some embodiments, an oral device can include a curved frame, a first bite block, and a second bite block. The first bite block can be coupled to a first end of the curved frame and the second bite block can be coupled to a second end of the curved frame. A first wing coupled to the first bite block and a second wing coupled to the second bite block can be configured to corral a tongue of a user such that the tongue of the user is restrained from contacting a tooth engaging surface of the left bite block or the right bite block when the oral device is disposed in a mouth of the user. The oral device can be symmetrical about a plane including a portion of the frame, a portion of the first bite block, and a portion of the second bite block.

Abstract: A surgical collection assembly for filtering material from liquid obtained during surgery has a distal plunger plate that is used to compress collected material that is filtered from liquid and entrained materials gathered during surgery. The distal plunger plate needs to be maintained above the collection jar inlet during collection of the liquid and entrained material. This disclosure teaches several ways to reversibly retain the distal plunger plate above the collection jar inlet. Also taught is a drape clamp that can affix the assembly and related tubing to a drape.

Abstract: A safety vial system has a vial adapter subsystem irreversibly mountable to the top of a vial containing a hazardous medicament and a vial base subsystem sealingly engaging a lower portion of the vial adapter subsystem and telescopically movable therein from a first position providing a path for gas sterilization around the vial to a second position wherein the path is closed to form a sterilized expandable, neutral pressure bellows chamber around and below the vial. The device has a removable top cap, a pierceable barrier film, a normally closed needleless valve in fluid communication with a dual lumen spike initially disposed above the film and a frangible product integrity ring holding the activation housing in place for sealed telescopic movement on a main body that surrounds the vial.

Abstract: Assay devices, systems, methods, and kits useful for detection of analytes in a bodily fluid sample, such as saliva, are disclosed herein. Assay devices may include a fluid sample collector and an assessment unit to which the fluid sample collector couples. The fluid sample collector may include a cap with a plunger and absorbent member that collects a bodily fluid sample. Insertion of the plunger into the assessment unit during coupling provides pressure-driven fluid flow through a filter rapidly delivering bodily fluid filtrate to one or more test panels which provide the assay result. In embodiments, an on-board light source enables a user to readily detect changes in a test panel indicative of the presence of an analyte thus providing an opportunity for obtaining rapid results with improved confidence.
