  • Patent number: 4043202
Abstract: A vacuum loop sample injection system, for use with gas chromatographs and other similar analyzer devices, in which the sample volume is collected within an enclosure having a known pressure, temperature, and volume so that the molecular quantity of a sample is used for each chromatograph test. The sample injection system operates by creating a vacuum within this enclosure and using this vacuum to slowly draw the sample in through a restriction unt predetermined pressure is obtained. The enclosure can be evacuated again by the vacuum source and refilled with the sample as many times as desired to wash any impurities out of the enclosure. Then the enclosure is placed in stream with the carrier gas for injection of the sample into the sample analyzer.
