Patents by Inventor Jay E. Stockley

Jay E. Stockley has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 6141069
Abstract: This invention provides a phase modulator comprising an electro-optically rotatable smectic liquid crystal half-wave retarder in combination with a cholesteric liquid crystal circular polarizer. Rotation of the half-wave retarder varies the phase delay of the modulator. A polarizing interferometer is provided utilizing the phase modulator of this invention in combination with a second cholesteric circular polarizer and a linear polarizer. A tunable Fabry-Perot resonator which does not require ordinary mirrors is provided utilizing the phase modulator of this invention in combination with a second cholesteric circular polarizer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 1997
Date of Patent: October 31, 2000
    Assignee: University Technology Corporation
Inventors: Gary D. Sharp, Kristina M. Johnson, Jay E. Stockley
