  • Patent number: 5097494
Abstract: An X-ray inspection apparatus and method allow inspection of the contents of containers moving rapidly past an inspection station. The system includes an X-ray source pulsed by control logic, an image amplifier for converting an X-ray image of the container contents to a visible image and a solid-state camera for converting the visible image into video signals which are processed by a computer-controlled image processor. Clear images are produced of the contents of rapidly moving containers by pulsing the X-ray source. Control logic and a reject mechanism eject containers having foreign contaminants. Image illuminance stability is enhanced by feedback signals from the vision computer which operate a motorized camera lens.

  • Patent number: 4879734
Abstract: An X-ray inspection apparatus and method allow inspection of the contents of containers moving rapidly past an inspection station. The system includes an X-ray source pulsed by power line voltage, an image amplifier for converting an X-ray image of the container contents to a visible image and a solid state camera for converting the visible image into video signals which are processed by a computer controlled image processor. Clear images are produced of the contents of rapidly moving containers by simultaneously pulsing the X-ray source, the image amplifier and the camera. Image quality is enhanced by synchronizing the exposure of the camera with a portion of the interval in which a visible X-ray image is produced. Control logic and a reject mechanism eject containers having foreign contaminants.

  • Patent number: 4196460
Abstract: A major surgical light has a plurality of light sources which permit both color and size adjustment of the illumination pattern. Color variation is accomplished by increasing the intensity of a light source of one color value while decreasing the intensity of a light source of another color value. Size adjustment is accomplished by providing two light sources, each casting different diameter light patterns which are superimposed on the work area. The intensity of one light source is increased while the other is decreased so as to vary the size of the pattern.

  • Patent number: 3944387
Abstract: Sterilizing apparatus and method in which a heavier-than-air sterilizing gas is introduced at a substantially constant flow rate into the bottom of the sterilizing chamber. Air in the chamber is displaced upwardly by the gas and out of the chamber through a restricted exhaust which is open throughout the gas introduction period. The pressure at the top of the chamber is monitored and the restricted exhaust is closed when the pressure has increased to a preselected level, the pressure level being directly related to the gas concentration. The gas inlet remains open for a time to provide a chamber pressure which will help to displace air trapped in the material being sterilized.
