The data sources include documents, web pages, or images that have information about one or more entities. The information is extracted from the data sources based on criteria that define the entities. The extracted information is utilized to generate a hash identifier that corresponds to each entity and one or more storage locations. The one or more storage locations and associated hash identifiers are utilized to store the extracted information corresponding to the entities, and the extracted information for each entity is structured as a virtual page that is stored in an index having references to the data sources. The index storing the virtual pages is notified or updated when the associated data sources are modified.

Abstract: A method and system to aggregate and present citations for disparate documents are provided. When the documents are similar to scholarly articles, the documents are further processed to extract citations associated with the document. The citations extracted from each document are utilized to generate a listing of citations that represents relationships between the documents. The content and relationships associated with the documents are displayed to provide a user with access to information for the disparate documents.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for allowing authorized users to access search results containing protected content, and for indicating within a user interface which search results an affiliated institution has and does not have access to. The invention can be configured to identify which search results within a search results set are protected search results containing protected content versus search results that are freely available. The invention can associate the user with an institution that is authorized to access the protected search result and can allow the user to access the protected search result once the association has been verified.

Abstract: A centralized process is provided for elevating portions of an application running under a user account to administrator privilege. A service security identifier is temporarily associated with the user and the portions of the application to be elevated to administrator privileges. The service security identifier is registered in the access control list to be accessed by the operating system. The centralized process may be used in the activation of software products.

Abstract: An application includes a plurality of features. A transaction is engaged with a retailer to obtain a product license corresponding to the application. The product license defines at least one feature of the application that may be employed. A base copy of the application is obtained from a distributor and is actuated. A use license corresponding to the product license is acquired from a licensor by way of the actuated application sending the product license to the licensor along with an identification of at least one of a user, the computing device, and a trusted component operating on the computing device, where the use license includes feature policy granting rights to employ each feature defined in the product license.
