    Abstract: A method and device for buttressing a sliding door. The sliding door includes a door frame having a locking edge and a free edge. A supporting member is coupled to the free edge of the door frame. The supporting member includes a body portion and an end portion. The body portion of the supporting member is disposed in alignment with the free edge of the door frame and has at least one hole disposed therethrough for coupling the supporting member to the doorframe. The end portion of the supporting member is positioned to extend beyond the free edge of the door frame when in a deployed position.
