    Abstract: An apparatus treats tissue at or near a sphincter. The apparatus has an elongated member having at least one lumen including an inflation lumen, and a basket assembly including a first and a second arm. An inflatable member is coupled to the inflation lumen and has a deployed and a non-deployed state. In the deployed state, the inflatable member expands the basket assembly into contact with tissue. At least one of the first and second arms of the basket assembly has a fluid lumen having an aperture for conveying a fluid from the basket assembly.     Abstract: A deflectable guiding catheter generally having an elongated shaft with a deflectable distal section, a second lumen, a first lumen in fluid communication with a port in the distal end of the shaft, an elongated tapered deflection line within the second lumen, and reinforcement strands within a wall of the shaft. The first lumen is independent from the second lumen, and is therefore not obstructed by the deflection line. The longitudinal axes of the second lumen and first lumen are axially aligned with respect to one another, and are eccentric to the shaft longitudinal axis. The reinforcement strands and the deflection line extend in at least a portion of the deflectable distal shaft section to a location spaced proximally of the distal end of the deflectable distal shaft section.

    Abstract: A reduced stiffness, bidirectionally deflecting catheter assembly (2) includes a handle (4) and flexible catheter shaft (6) with a tip section (12) secured to its distal end (14). The tip section has a radially offset, longitudinally extending core wire lumen (42) through which a tapered core wire (24), extending from a core wire manipulator (56) on the handle, passes. The core wire manipulator can be moved in two different directions (58, 60) to pull or push on the core wire to cause the tip section to deflect axially in opposite directions in the same plane. The ends of the core wire are non-rotatably secured to the handle and the tip section so that rotating the handle about its axis (63) causes the tip section to deflect laterally due to torsionally forces exerted on the tip section by both the catheter shaft and the core wire. The taper on the core wire determines the size and shape of the curved tip section when the tip is axially deflected.
