  • Patent number: 10947407
Abstract: A surface finish composition including a silica-bonded reversibly cross-linked co-polymer and a water-dispersible polyurethane. The silica-bonded reversibly cross-linked co-polymer includes a base co-polymer including monomers derived from one or more ethylenic polymerizable monomers and an alkoxysilyl acrylate; a reversible cross-linking agent; and a silica nanoparticle bonded to the base co-polymer. The amount of water-dispersible polyurethane is 15-50% by weight of the combined amount of water-dispersible polyurethane and base co-polymer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 30, 2018
Date of Patent: March 16, 2021
    Assignee: Essential Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Jay M. Shaffer, Emily R. Dybdahl, Michael R. Underwood, Jr.

  • Publication number: 20120296034
Abstract: An acid-functional polymer is reacted with a transition metal compound having an average particle size small enough to react with the polymer at a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the polymer, e.g., at room temperature, to produce cross-linked polymer. The process produces a liquid polymer product that dries to a cross-linked film without the required presence of volatile ligands. Improved coatings such as floor polishes that can be formed from these cross-linked polymers are also disclosed.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 27, 2012
