  • Publication number: 20140343744
Abstract: An energy savings device, system and method are provided to improve electric utility grid stability by reducing power demand at a point of consumption. The method may include monitoring a power signal characteristic, obtaining a stability parameter for the utility grid, determining a stability condition based on the monitored power signal characteristic and the stability parameter; and regulating, at the point of consumption, an amount of energy received from the utility grid based on the determined stability condition. The system may include an energy savings system in communication with the electric utility grid and a processor and non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to perform the method.

  • Publication number: 20060075700
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a window sill flashing comprising a base having a substantially rectangular shape. A front flange projects perpendicularly downward from a front edge of the base and at least one side flange extends vertically from a side edge of the base. The side flange includes a front surface. The window sill flashing is made from a rigid homopolymer vinyl film.

  • Publication number: 20050070476
Abstract: The present invention demonstrates the biological function of a newly identified osteoclast-secreted protein. This protein, mim-1, has sequence homology with but is distinct from a previously identified neutrophil chemokine protein. Mim-1 may be a key signaling protein secreted by osteoclasts that regulates recruitment and/or differentiation of osteoblast and osteoclast precursor cells. This protein may also serve to maintain osteoclasts in a relatively inactive state prior to secretion. This mechanism is essential for regulating the mass and structural integrity of bone. This protein or an analog and/or antagonists of this protein will have potential therapeutic potential in the treatment of a variety of pathological bone diseases including osteoporosis and metastatic bone diseases.

  • Patent number: 5898161
Abstract: A wrist-mounted terminal for use in electro-optically reading bar code symbols, includes a main body having a display, and a strap for securing the body on and around a wrist of an operator. The terminal includes a detector for detecting light reflected off a symbol. A keypad is mounted on the body for movement between a concealed position in which manually depressible keys are hidden by the body, and an exposed position in which the keys are accessible. The keypad is preferably slidingly received within the body, or hinged to the body.
