  • Publication number: 20060293218
Abstract: A therapeutic composition includes a salicylate administering concert with at least one salicylate excretion compound of a glycine salicylate conjugate and a gluconoride salicylate conjugate. A therapeutic composition is provided that has an extended excretion half-life for a salicylate that includes the administration of the salicylate in concert with an enzymatic substrate competitor. The enzymatic substrate competitor being competitive with salicylate or gluconoride. Salicylate enzymatic substrate competitors include benzoate or other aromatic derivatives, while gluconoride enzymatic substrate competitors include an active phenolic unit. A process for treating a human or non-human subject includes administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of a salicylate and a salicylate pharmacokinetics modifier of glycine salicylate conjugate, gluconoride salicylate conjugate, benzoate, an aromatic derivative and an active phenolic unit, along with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

  • Publication number: 20060210548
Abstract: A process for reducing cerebrospinal fluid flow obstruction includes the administration of a therapeutic dose of a clot-reducing agent to a subject having preconditions or obstructive hydrocephalus symptoms. The dose is maintained within the subject for a period of time sufficient to reduce cerebrospinal fluid flow obstruction. The clot-reducing agent includes a plasminogen activator, a defibrinogenic agent, an anticoagulant, a platelet inhibitor and a combination thereof. A commercial kit is provided, containing a clot-reducing agent, an administering apparatus, together with instructions for use of the kit.

  • Publication number: 20060207592
Abstract: A system and method of active neuro-protection for detecting and arresting injury to an individual is provided. The system includes a sensing means for sensing the occurrence of a predetermined event within an environment and for operatively transmitting an event indicating signal. The system also includes a controller operatively in communication with the sensing means including a processor for processing the event indicating signal to determine if a predetermined condition is met for releasing a neuro-protective agent. The system further includes a dispensing means for releasing the neuro-protective drug, and the dispensing means is operatively in communication with the controller, and releases the neuro-protective drug if the controller transmits a drug releasing signal to the dispensing means if the predetermined condition is met.

  • Publication number: 20060142396
Abstract: A method of treating a neuronal disorder is provided that includes the intravenous administration to a subject suffering or predisposed to a neuronal disorder a therapeutically effective amount of gamma-aminobutyramide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Gamma-aminobutyramide has sufficient stability for intravenous administration and is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. A method of neuroprotection is provided that includes administration to a subject suffering or predisposed to a neuronal disorder associated with spasticity or convulsions a therapeutically effective amount of gamma-aminobutyramide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050192321
Abstract: A process for treating neuropathy includes administration to a patient suffering from a neuropathy more than 5 and less than 18 mg of aminopyridine in a dose. The aminopyridine is formulated in an immediate release formulation. At least two such doses are provided per day to create spike serum plasma levels of aminopyridine sufficient to drive the aminopyridine across the blood-nerve barrier.

  • Publication number: 20050100873
Abstract: A system for simulating cerebrospinal injury includes a simulated human head having an anatomically representative volume filled with a brain or spinal cord simulative mass material. A force sensor is located within the volume at a preselected location to yield information needed to simulate axonic cerebrospinal injury. Simulated cerebrospinal injury information is helpful in designing countermeasures to lessen such injury.

  • Publication number: 20050059709
Abstract: A process for treating neuropathy includes administration to a patient suffering from a neuropathy more than 5 and less than 18 mg of 4-aminopyridine in a dose. The 4-aminopyridine is formulated in an immediate release formulation. At least two such doses are provided per day to create spike serum plasma levels of 4-aminopyridine sufficient to drive the 4-aminopyridine across the blood-nerve barrier.
