  • Patent number: 9895608
Abstract: A method of providing virtual items based on location-based actions is disclosed. An indication is received of a performance of a location-based action by a player of a computer-implemented game. A virtual item is added to an inventory of a player character of the player of the computer-implemented game based on the receiving of the indication of the performance of the location-based action by the player of the computer-implemented game. The virtual item is usable within the computer-implemented game by the player character of the player of the computer-implemented game.

  • Patent number: 9817552
Abstract: A search result set is communicated to a first user as hypertext descriptions of data items constituting the result search set. A check box is displayed adjacent each hypertext description, utilizing which the first user may select a subset of the search result set. This subset is then communicated to a second user, again as hypertext descriptions of the subset. Check boxes are furthermore displayed to the second user so as to enable the second user to select a further and narrower subset of the search result set. Selected items of a result set of an Internet-based search may in this way conveniently be communicated between first and second users. Each of a number of interfaces provides the hypertext descriptions of the data items of the search result set.

  • Publication number: 20170182422
Abstract: A method of changing a virtual world of a computer-implemented game based on real-world locations of players of the computer-implemented game is disclosed. A presence of a player of the computer-implemented game is detected at a physical location. A presence of an additional player of the computer-implemented game is detected at the physical location based on a communication received from the player of the computer-implemented game. An aspect of the virtual world of the computer-implemented game is changed based on the detecting of the presence of the player at the physical location and the detecting of the presence of the additional player of the computer-implemented game at the physical location.

  • Publication number: 20160293049
Abstract: The present disclosure can allow existing and aspiring drivers to be exposed to a plurality of salient driving items, i.e., objects or activities that may require cognitive awareness from the driver, so as to keep these items from becoming a hazard, e.g., something that has the potential of causing vehicle collision/damage, property damage, or personal injury. The user is repetitively and, in some embodiments, simultaneously, exposed to salient items and other non-salient items (i.e., objects or activities that do not require cognitive awareness but are in the driver's field-of-view) in a virtual environment, facilitating the inducement of a recognition response when these same salient items are encountered while driving a vehicle. In certain embodiments, the user can be scored based upon the user's ability to recognize the salient items in a timely manner and in an appropriate sequence.

  • Publication number: 20160071370
Abstract: A system to manage prize accumulation and distribution includes an interface to receive publication data from a publishing user. The publication data is to be published by the computer system. The interface further receives a prize contribution value, at the computer system and from the publishing user, in exchange for the presentation of an opportunity to win a cumulative prize. The opportunity to win the cumulative prize is to be presented by the computer system in conjunction with the publication of the publication data. A publication module is to electronically publish the publication data on behalf of the publishing user, and is to electronically present the opportunity to win the cumulative prize in conjunction with the publication of the publication data. A prize processing module is to calculate a value of the cumulative prize, based on a cumulative contribution of prize contribution values received from a plurality of publishing users.

  • Patent number: 9008704
Abstract: A system and a method for communicating selected search results are described. The system identifies items based on a search that is automatically executed. The identifying includes utilizing a criterion to perform the search. The system further generates a first user interface that includes the items and selection functions that are respectively associated with the items. The system presents the first user interface over a communications network and receives two selections that identify at least two items that are deleted from the items. Next, the system generates a second user interface that includes the non-deleted items and selection functions, the non-deleted items are respectively associated with the selection functions. Finally, the system presents the second user interface over the communications network.

  • Publication number: 20150005070
Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for entering a viewable location on a gameboard having a virtual media object capable of presenting a media item within a media are presented. A game instance of a computer-implemented game is generated, where the game instance is associated with a game state of a player using a virtual gameboard. A graphical user interface displaying an exterior of one or more virtual buildings associated with the game instance is provided. A request to view an interior of a virtual structure is received via a device of the player. In response to the request, the interior of the virtual structure is displayed, including displaying a virtual media object in the interior of the virtual structure. The virtual media object is associated with a media playable to the player upon request.
