  • Publication number: 20260151024
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an implantable or wearable, flexible, miniaturized microimaging suited for localized brain fluorescent imaging. The microimaging device is implemented on a Parylene photonics platform, which is biocompatible and fabricated using scalable planar microfabrication techniques, enabling customizable design, size, and number of channels (pixels). Operating across the entire visible spectrum. The microimaging device functions effectively both for coherent and scattered light. The microimaging device can be implanted into the brain of freely moving animals, where one or more waveguides could be dedicated to light delivery and the rest of the waveguides for collecting and relaying the fluorescent image to image the tissue structure and function.

  • Publication number: 20250191496
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a cochlear implant surgery simulator and training system. The system comprises a 3D model of a scala tympani upon which a surgeon performs practice insertions an the electrode array of a cochlear implant, wherein the electrode array is instrumented with one or more thin-film sensors disposed along a length of the electrode array, enabling real-time collection of force and position data. The system further comprises a feedback system for analyzing data collected from the instrumented electrode array and deriving scoring metrics regarding the surgeon's insertion technique.

  • Publication number: 20250177733
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel design of an instrumented cochlear implant, wherein the electrode array portion of the implant is provided with a microfabricated thin-film sensing array comprising one or more sensors to detect various features of the electrode array during insertion and to provide feedback to the surgeon during implantation. The sensing array collects intraoperative information on the state of the electrode array during insertion.

  • Publication number: 20250177734
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system for analyzing data extracted from an instrumented cochlear implant, wherein the electrode array portion of the implant is provided with a microfabricated thin-film sensing array comprising one or more sensors to detect various features of the electrode array during insertion and to provide feedback to the surgeon during implantation. Preferred embodiments of the system utilize one or more trained machine learning models to extract features from the raw data received from the sensing array and can perform a pose estimation of the electrode array and recommend next surgical actions to increase the probability of a positive clinical outcome.

  • Publication number: 20250122073
Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices comprising stretchable interdigitated electrode arrays and methods for fabricating the devices. The devices are capable of acting as elongation sensors by sensing a change in the capacitance of the device as the distance between the interdigitated fingers changes when the device is elongated or compressed. The device may be coupled to other devices such as to be able to sense elongation or compression of the coupled device. The interdigitated fingers of the device are supported by a substrate and may be fabricated using traditional microfabrication techniques.

  • Publication number: 20220043028
Abstract: Disclosed here are two approaches for implementing neural probes that consist of a thin, high-density Parylene C-based probe on a stainless steel shuttle. In a first approach, the high density Parylene C probe is microfabricated separately and is then affixed to a planar or curved stainless steel shuttle. In a second approach, the high-density probe is monolithically fabricated on a stainless steel shuttle by micromachining the stainless steel substrate.
