  • Publication number: 20260210010
Abstract: A method of making an aerogel insulation material for use in building insulation, by: (a) producing short fibers with attached aerogel particles; (b) depositing the short fibers onto a continuously moving fiber web; (c) crosslapping the continuously moving aerogel-embedded fiber web back and forth on top of itself to produce a layered aerogel-embedded fiber web; (d) passing the layered aerogel-embedded fiber web through a belt press to compress the layered aerogel-embedded fiber web into a stable compressed composite; and then (e) cutting or rolling the stable compressed composite into desired sizes.

    Inventors: Mikhail GELFER, Jay THAKKAR
  • Publication number: 20260035926
Abstract: A method of securing a thermoplastic roofing membrane onto a roofing assembly, by: (a) providing a roofing component positioned at the top of a roofing assembly, wherein the roofing component has a thermoplastic top surface; (b) placing a thermoplastic roofing membrane over the top of the roofing component; and then (c) heating the thermoplastic roofing membrane together with the top surface of the roofing component to cause the thermoplastic roofing membrane to fuse to the top surface of the roofing component.

  • Patent number: 8993620
Abstract: Cinnamic acid-based oligomers and therapeutic uses thereof are provided. The oligomers are used as anti-inflammation agents, inhibitors of elastase and anti-oxidants, and in some cases (e.g. the treatment of lung disorders such as lung cancer) all three activities are simultaneously beneficial. Subsets of the oligomers (e.g. ?-O4 and ?-5 trimers and tetramers) are used as anticoagulants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 2013
Date of Patent: March 31, 2015
    Assignee: Virginia Commonwealth University
Inventors: Umesh R. Desai, Brian L. Henry, Aiye Liang, Jay Thakkar, John B. Mangrum, Ivo Torres Filho, Bruce D. Spiess, Masahiro Sakagami, Bhawana Saluja
